RIGHT ON TIME LOCKSMITH. My tenant called them and had a mailbox lock opened and new lock installed. They charged me $60.00 for a retail $$6.00 lock.... 10 times what it should have been sold for. This service should have cost maybe $80.00 total they charged $125.00. I would not do any more business with them - watch your back.

Great Company...

AUTHOR: bailey - (United States of America)

Hello everyone. I read the comment that a customer had left.

It's ok for someone to have an opinion or disagree to agree. But writing it on "rip off report", to me is unacceptable. Right on Time Locksmiths really helped me out when I needed a locksmith immediately. I have been in a horrible relationship and everytime I tried to leave, he would threaten my family and myself. Until one day, I did. Unfortunately it didn't end very well for us both.. When the cops showed up, they took him to jail and they suggested to change my locks. They even called for me.

When a technician should up maybe 20-25 minutes later, he took a look at my locks, he offered the best solution to keep my ex from coming in. He was professional, gentle, and such a kind man. I did not feel ripped off. I didn't need to "watch my back". He was honest and caring about everything that happened and what needed to happen. The price was not even bad, at all! I don't know what the person is talking about, "10 times" higher. Someone came to my house, spent time changing my locks, and did a wonderful job at that. What else do people expect?

Right on Time did a wonderful job. I felt protected after a horrible incident. I couldn't have thanked them enough. They shouldn't even be on here.

Do it yourself.

The retail price of the lock is only relevant if you are planning to purchase it and install it yourself.   When you get your car fixed, do you expect the mechanic to charge you the Autozone price for the parts he uses?   When you eat out do you expect the restaurant to charge you the supermarket price for that steak?  Virtually all businesses mark up the materials they use.

Overall, $125 for having a locksmith dispatched for a lockout and a lock replacement is pretty reasonable.    You have the option of determining what the costs will be before having the work done.   That would be the time to object and find alternatives.   My bet is that it's unlikely you would have found a locksmith willing to come out and do the job for significantly less.

Next time this happens I suggest you pick the old lock and install the new $6 lock
yourself.
