On December 21, 2008 my husband and I went to Ritz camera in the Genesee Valley Mall Flint MI to look at filter for her camera. I was thinking about a new camera for my husband for Christmas so I asked the sales woman about the Nikon P80 she gave me some information including the fact that they would match Best Buys prices ($299.00 compared to $329.00). she told me that there was a much better advantage to buying through them there was so much extra including free camera classes and a printer. since my husband was with me i could not purchase the camera at that time.

I went back to the store on December 23, 2008 to buy the camera, I get there went in there were only 2 sales people on the floor at that time (2 days before Christmas imagin that) the store had 2 customers before me and they were being helped by the sales people. several people came in after me and left because it took them so long to finish with the customers they were helping I waited appox 45 minutes to get service. when someone was finally available to help me. i asked about the Nikon P80, he told me that he did not know much about it. but because i had several conversations with my sister-in-law who is a professional photographer and she thought it would be a good investment i decided to buy it.

at that time the saleman informed me that he would have to order it and that indeed they would match the best buy price. (its a christmas present) i said i can't wait he then talked me into the Fugi Film Fine Pix S2000 so i puchased it. in total it took me over 2 hours at the store to buy a camera.

After Christmas i was watching the adds to see what went on sale and i notice that the Fugi Film Finepix went on sale for $50.00 less, i called Ritz to see if they would match and he said yes but when i went to get the match they would not honer it, at that point i decided that the fugi was not for me so i took the camera back to get a refund on January 4,2009 i was informed that since it was a cash transaction that they would put my information in and the company would send me a check.

i was not happy because i did not say sell me the camera today and i will pay you in 30 days. i gave them over $300.00 right away because there was other items i purchases. in most places they give you your refund right away, not Ritz they make you wait to have the money returned to you.

the original reciept never mentioned the retuned policy but when i returned the camera the reciept said allow 10 buiseness days for processing well guess what it has now been over 20 buiseness days i have called the store several times and they alway tell me the same thing the accounting department is not answering our calls.

Finally on the 20th buiseness day they gave me the customer service number, i called them and basically got the same run around. they told me that the refund department is so far behind that my check might be mailed out in a week, i said i did not wait 30 days to pay you so you should return my money sooner then that. His reply is that he will investigate it and call me on Monday.

so the moral of the story is don't buy from Ritz camera unless your sure you won't return the item or if you do that you can wait a long time for the return

Its This Simple...

All Ritz Camera stores have their return policies posted in the store. In addition, your receipt (which is needed for refund) also states that cash returns over $50 are to be paid by form of check, mailed from our home office.

Ritz Camera is NOT Best Buy. Therefore, we arn't going to have a 50+ sales staff at your disposal. Im sorry you had to wait so long, but as you said, you were there 2 days before Christmas... Waiting should be expected.

In YOUR DEFENSE, however, you should not have had to wait so long for your refund check.

Moral of THIS story- be sure you understand the return policy before you pay with cash.

As frustrating as it may be, stores in the Ritz/Wolf corporation don't have more than $300 on hand in each register. So they must have some sort of line drawn in order to be able to maintain business. For instance I have two registers at my store, if you came into my store, and I were to give you a $300 refund, I would have only $300 left in the store, and what makes the situation worse is you came back in january. January is the slowest time of year for most companies. The reason Best Buy, and other big store are able to refund more is because they are bigger... It makes sense if you think about it. Plus, in each store there is a sign that explains our refund policy.
