RJM Acquisitions, LLC is an arm of the Mitchell Kay law offices located in NYC, NY.  They sent me a "letter" claiming they'd purchased a "debt" belonging to me. There is no account number, just the name of a bank I once held an account with about 25 years ago, and closed after paying off in full. The bank itself has been out of business for many years as well.

They offered me three "options" to pay, which is a joke since I owe them absolutely nothing, owe the bank in question absolutely nothing, and because any involvement whatsoever with this bank goes back a quarter of a century.

Apparently, this is what these vile creatures do -- they get hold of some kind of old information and send out these letters in the hopes some poor people will actually give them money. After researching them on the internet, they also fabricate false "debt" in other people's names and then harass them for that "debt".

In my opinion, someone somewhere must be getting kickbacks from these creeps, because Mitchell Kay has been doing this for years, as has RJM Acquisitions.

If you get a letter from them, DO NOT PAY! Respond immediately with either a Debt Validation letter or a Cease & Desist letter, or a combination of both -- only correspondence from them must include debt validation according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and may only be in writing, or they may notify you that they are ceasing collection activities.

They've also been tarnishing my credit reports, and I fully intend to take legal action for each incident that is in violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (at $1000 per incident, plus expenses, woo-h*o, Hawaii here I come!).

I have filed complaints with the AG's office and I am opening a Federal Trade Commission investigation into my situation. I am also taking legal action with the Credit Bureaus for not complying with the FCRA.
