Roundpoint Mortgage absconded with my money after making a double tax payment Nationwide

I was attracted to Roundpoint by it's low rates when we refinanced our home.  The application, approval and closing processes were horrible. Roundpoint kept losing documents, asking for the same thing over and over. Denying they had received things.  Changing their numbers.  Changing their due dates.    I have owned multiple homes and had multiple mortgages, but this was a clown act of the first proportion, such as I have never seen before. It was obvious that these people at Roundpoint do not know what they are doing!  During the process of asking for redundant docuents, Roundpoint didn’t like the appraisal ("too high") so they arbitrarily changed the appraised value ("at no cost to you") which was, of course, lower, hence a smaller loan and, oh yes, at a higher rate.  From approval to closing took over eight weeks - And drove us absolutely nuts.  They acted like they were doing us a favor!  

Now, having been with Roundpoint for about six months now, silly me, I paid my property taxes.  I have never had a mortgage before in which taxes and insurance were escrowed like the mortgage at Roundpoint, so I forgot and paid my annual taxes.  When I realized my mistake I called our local tax office who said they had received my payment first and returned Roundpoint's electronic payment back to them.  I called Roundpoint, who at first denied I had made a payment, then denied they had received my return, then the return, one received, was lost, then, once “found”, Roundpoint decided not to return it, but to “add it to my escrow account”, which was fully funded per our mortgage contract.  I believe this is illegal and is is definitely highly unethical.  This was over the course of two months of weekly phone calls.  A supervisor named Christen at 908-258-6153.   So based on this, my advice to anyone considering picking up the phone and calling Roundpoint:  Stay away.  Stay far, far away.
