I ordered a Nikon D70 digital camera kit with 18-70mm lens from Royal Camera over the Internet for $689. The next day they called to confirm the order and sold me an upgraded package which included a battery, a 256 compact flash card and a full service warranty for $989.

When I got the package, I learned that the upgrade only included the battery and the warranty and they charged me $239 extra for the flash card. The full service warranty which was supposed to cover repair for any reason was only the 1 year manufactures warranty which only repairs defects of the camera, not wear and tear. When I asked them if Nikon would repair it if I dropped it they said yes, as long as you don't tell them you dropped it, i.e. lie.

They also told me I could only get the $100 rebate if I purchased the compact flash card. I found out from Nikon that the rebate is only for the camera and not conditioned upon purchase of a flash card.

Furthermore the compact flash card they sold me was supposed to be a "80X-180X" high-speed card but when I called PQI, the flash card manufacturer, they told me it was only a 20X high-speed card.

In summery when I purchased the $689 digital camera kit I assumed it came with the battery and manufactures warranty per Nikon's description of the Nikon D70 kit with 18-70mm lens, what I paid extra for was an extended full service warranty which I did not receive. I was lied to about the flash card, first that it was a condition of the rebate, second about it's speed, and third that it was included in the package.

I have tried to work things out with the company but they have not yet let me return it for a full refund. Instead, they keep telling me that they will send things to me (a camera bag and a 128MB flash card) but I do not want these things and do not believe that they make up for the hugely overcharged price. I can no longer get through to their customer service and I don't believe they would help resolve the dispute even if I did.
