I am writing about harassing phone calls that I continually get from RPM. My first call from them was that they were calling to follow up on a collection letter for a charge for Verizon for $142.01. I have not had Verizon for 7 years. I notified them that and they stated that the file was 2005.

I told them I did not have Verizon in 2005. I also notified them that I never received a letter from them. I wanted to know what the charge was and they stated it was for Verizon charges. I told them that I would not pay or give out information unless I had documentation. The woman, Rhonda proceeded to get nasty and tell me to pay the bill.

I told her that I never received the letter, I am not aware of what she is talking about and I was not going to pay something I did not know about. I told her I need documentation and proof. She told me she sent a letter and she did what she had to. I asked for information from Verizon so I could follow up and she did not comply and just continued to be nasty and told me to pay.

She began upsetting me and I told her to send the letter again and leave me alone as no one in their right mind would give out their personal credit card info to pay over the phone without proof of her company and documentation. After being upset for approx. 15 minutes, I told her to mail me the letter but not to call again. I hung up. This was a 703 Dumfries, VA number.

A few days later at 7:00 am I got another call from Rhonda again and I told her the same thing, she began to yell and tell me that she legally sent out the letter and she needed my money. I told her that I was glad that the call was being recorded so they can hear me tell her that I never received the letter, I would not give out credit card info onthe phone when I am not comfortable or know who RPM was and she continued to be nasty, I asked to speak to a Supervisor. I was switched over to Lionel.

He stated that I had to understand that people always say they never receive the letter and they get lots of stories not to pay. I told him that I was in the process of cleaning my credit and I was not playing but I was not paying for something 7 years back, no documentation or proof. He told me to call Verizon and give them my number and verify that they are the collections company for Verizon.

He even offered a smaller fee to pay it off (this made me feel that this was legit). He told me that once I verified to call and ask for him and he would give me the negiotated fee of $120.06. I called Verizon and spoke with someone and they stated they could not find any charges.

Today, Saturday, July 12 at 2:00 pm, I get another call from RPM Rhonda again, she started the call with an attitude, I told her not to call my home to harass, I proceeded to talk to her to explain what was going on but she would talk over me and not listen. I told her to be quiet so she could listen and she continued talking over.

I began to get so upset, I started shaking and began yelling at the top of my lungs to leave me alone, stop harassing me and that I did not trust them as a company. I told her she was upsetting me and I would sue them for harassment as I was shaking. I hung up. I was so upset because they call me (by the way with another phone number 425-686-3016 and after a few minutes that I collected myself, I went to dail the numger to speak to a supervisor and when I dialed the number.......it said it was a number out of service. HEllo??????????/

What can I do??? I need them to leave me alone. If they are legit, why can't they mail the letter again? Fax the letter the mailed? Also why can't Verizon find me. I was under the account as Angel Q. They looked and I told Verizon if they found any charges could they fax over the information and the rep said of course. Needless to say, they never found anything. Where is this $142.00 from?

I also checked my credit report and nothing is under there either. I need guidance but mostly I want action on this rep, Rhonda from RPM that got me so upset, disrespected me and was rude. I understand collections is a job but harassment is not one the descriptions. I am still here upset with a sore throat from screaming and now have a headache. This is not needed or necessary. If this is a legit charge that can be proven to me, I will pay it. I need RPM to leave me alone!!!! I am too upset. Please help me.

While I understand your upset, RPM does in fact have an escalation department who handle complaints. Their sole job is to find out what you need and help resolve the problems. Please contact them at 888-838-5123. You will find they are very helpful.

They want you to get all upset and flustered so you will pay just to make them go away. Since verizon has no record of the charges, then don't worry about it. The next time they call, ask for their address, then send them a letter requesting that they do NOT call you again. If they do call you report them. Just hang up on them. ANd since they are not nice to you don't be nice to thme.. What ever you do, do NOT agree to pay. Check on what the statute of limitations is in your state (I just checked, it is 6 years in New Jersay) So no NOt agree to pay them because that would start the statute of limitations all over again. Don't even agree to a partila payment. Just thell them to go to hell. and HANg up. nO USE TRYING TO TALK TO THEM OR REASON WITH THEM.
