This "rescue" is disgusting in the way they treat their animals and the good people who want to care for them. I chose to foster to adopt. Ruff House Rescue gave me this dog without giving any sort of paperwork. They had no idea the age of the dog nor what type of food the people at the kennel were feeding her. They sent me home with a sandwich bag full of pills with an index card with the name "doxy" handwritten on it. I was given three different reasons why this dog was on medication (worms, tick bite, and kennel cough). This dog didn't have kennel cough so it's either worms or a tick bite.
Once I brought the dog home, I realized she was bleeding from an incision on her belly. I immediately called Melissa and only then found out that the dog was spayed days beforehand. I texted a picture to Melissa and I was in the phone with her while she was speaking with Diane about it and they didn't seemed concerned at all for the wellbeing of the dog. [continued below]....
Last straw was when the dog bit my dog and she was limping for the rest of the night. My dog is old and this RHR dog is young and playful. She isn't a bad dog but I couldn't have her hurting my dog. So I called Diane to see about someone picking their dog up. She told me to drop her off at 8:00 at night. I live atleast 30 mins away and it's a school night so , I would not be able to. I asked for hours they were open and tried to organize a time when I could drop the dog off. She wouldn't listen to me while I was speaking, she just talked over me as I was talking. After her screaming at me to "just throw my kids and the dog in the car and drop the dog off", I had to hang up on her. She then continued with texting telling me to drop her off.
I DO NOT advise anyone to ever deal with Ruff House Rescue. I question everything about this place and if they should be in this business. They don't seem like they care for the animals at all. Their total lack of concern for the surgical site opening up is borderline abusive. The staff is nasty and unwilling to help. Stay far away from these people. I legally had to drop the dog off last night and this place was a disaster. It was dirty, messy, crab traps thrown around everywhere. There were multiple houses and no clear entrance way. Everything was blocked off. After walking around for about 10 minutes, I finally found one person who explained that he is the only one working right now. He told me Diane never told him I was coming. I asked for paperwork to prove that I dropped the dog off and he said "Diane isn't here and I don't know where that stuff is". I tried to explain about the dogs spay and he was so busy with other things that he couldn't even listen. Also, I was given medication for this dog and I tried to explain it to him and he couldn't listen again because he was the only one there with all of this going on. I hope this dog gets the care she needs from this place but I highly doubt it.
