Just a warning to let others know.  I changed from Sage Telecom to another phone company on Oct. 8.  My billing period with Sage was from Sept. 26-Oct. 25, so naturally I thought I only owed them for the period of Sept. 26 through Oct 7.  When I called to ask them what the prorated charge would be so that I could settle my bill, they informed me that I owed for the full month, which means I must pay for 18 days when I didn't even have their service. I had never heard of this scam before, but was told by Sage that the Texas Public Utility Commission approves.  Later, I did see that it is written in fine print at the end of my last Sage bill.  Haven't contacted PUC yet, so still not sure if this is actually legal.  But to me, it seems like a rip-off to have to pay 2 phone companies at the same time.  It just seems to get worse & worse with so many service companies being able to scam people with "legal" schemes which much of the public is not even aware of until it is too late.  Is there nothing we can do to fight this nonsense?
