I recieved the package today. I felt it was a scam too, so I searched them on the web. I found all of you, I am so sorry for you guys. I will pray that all the letters will stop.
I noticed that most of the people are from the south or east, so I thought I would let you all know that you have done a good job at driving them away. You drove them all the way to the west coast, California in fact. I hope noone else falls for this phony stuff.
People if you want to donate to God, or church do it locally so that you can help the people around you, don't send it to someone who is putting it straight in their pockets.
Do charity work. I am a true believer of gifts from God. I once donated $30 to the homeless shelter for Thanksginving, and within 30 days I recived a check in the mail for $300, a credit card company said they owed me money for once!!! I sent that $30 in good faith and asked for nothing in return, that is why God chose to give it 10 times back.
If you are going to donate, do it from the heart and expect nothing in return, because that is what donating truely is about.

THose of you who might continue to insist that St MATHEWS PRAYER RUG SCAM is 'sent from god' need to understand...that if god is sending a scam like this to take $$ from people... then he is no GOD.
It is much as this person said to give locally and to do locally what one can.
For me, the only nonlocal person I will even bother with is Billy Graham.
I wont even waste time on TV preachers myself, as most of the used to be about $$ and not god, and the one big one (700club) is more about his own agenda and not god either.
DO locally, and ignore any thing that askes for $$ for prayers.
Prayers for others are usually free for the asking.

Woe Unto those who steal in the name of God!

This is a Man or group of men using fraud and the name of the Lord and almighty God to deceive those who are trusting or desperate enough to reach out and help or get help from someone they think is a caring Christian group.
I too have gotten letters from this group and wondered how they knew I was in need or searching for a light in the dark. But its no mystery really for the devil knows who is is pain because he is the root of that pain, him and his followers like those perpetrating this crime.
If you want to get your money back you have only a couple of options.
1) Take any and all correspondence letters you have gotten or get in the future to your Attorney Generals office and file a report. (If you don't need the hassle then just ask them to send the bogus Church a cease and desist letter to stop all correspondence with you at once. This usually works.)
2. Take the return envelopes and fill them with washers so they have to pay for the extra postage...they will quickly get the point not to be sending any more letters or they will be paying for the extra postage.
3. Write them a letter in faith asking them to NEVER write you again as you know they are a RIP-OFF group now.
Then pray that God intervenes on your behalf so you dont hold bitterness in your heart.
Those who use God's name to RIP-OFF his people will pay a terrible price.
This in and of itself is punishment enough for the money they have stolen from God.
God not only said it he PROMISED IT when he said..."Know this ALL LIARS WILL HAVE THEIR PLACE IN THE LAKE OF FIRE WHICH IS HELL"
I say woe unto those who are involved with this Saint Matthew's scam. :(
And for those who gave even when they didn't have it to give...God knows you gave with a sorrowful heart. Just like the widow who gave all that she had...the widows mite (a penny) YOU WILL BE BLESSED FOR GIVING.
Amen

Chad, Divine Saviour Church

Chad,
I am Catholic so I sit on both sides of the fence. I feel your anger but like to see a church be able to ring it's bell's (speakers). How about sending a letter to Cardinal Mahoney at the L.A. Cathedral asking him to speak with the pastor at Divine Savior Church about lowering the volume and maybe only doing the bells every three hours for a shorter period of time? You never know it might work as parish pastors will do what the Cardinal tells them to. Find out if the pastor lives at the Parish, maybe if he did maybe he would see your point. If he does not, ask him to stay at your house for a couple of days?

We went to Israel last year and stayed in Nazareth, talk about loud speakers. The Muslims turn theirs on for prayer all over the city five times a day, once at 4:00 in the morning. Chanting, prayer and just plain loud noise. Just letting you know it could be a lot worse.
Good luck!

churchs are evil

i have been living here nice and queit 4 years till this church puts up 4 blairing bull horns allday everyday allday long starting at 7 am i have asked the Roman Catholic church to cut the noise.i have sent enough letters and made enough phone calls to fill an inch-thick file with no success The church's bells which aren't actual bells but a recorded carillon broadcast through 4 bull horn speakers -- ring hourly from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day having to "hear 10 minutes of droning megaphone chimes, "They shouldn't dictate to the neighborhood when to commemorate 9/11 by ringing their bells for a solid hour at 6 a.m. in the morning the church uses an electric carillon system. In other words, the church is automatically broadcasting canned music throughout the day. Its bell ringing is not personal and does not mark a human event indeed, the system would keep broadcasting even if every human being on earth were to perish, at least until the lights went out. broadcasting its recordings every hour and every 15 minutes In the first place, we feel that hourly broadcasts are excessive in a pluralistic society, particularly when the "bells" are actually just an automatic appliance. But every 15 minutes on a Saturday Sunday??!
"If This is maybe your only day off, would you really want to hear a loudspeaker blast that is as loud as your alarm clock every 15 minutes starting at 7 AM We feel that hourly ringing is excessive especially if the broadcast is not a simple striking of hours but of some musical selection We also feel that trouble is almost inevitable when bells are replaced by broadcasts of automatic appliances If Saturday-Sunday is maybe your only day off, would you really want to hear a loudspeaker blast that is as loud as your alarm clock every 15 minutes starting at 7 AM? If you're someone that likes to think, likes to read, likes to create art, likes to get into one's unconscious via some tranquility in the home, then this a major disruption. this blast of loudspeaker waking you up all the time is annoying, and letting you know what time it is every 15 minutes. Plus you have to hear 10 minutes of droning megaphone chimes. i have been recording and measuring the sound level of the bells for the past two months. these levels are as high as 98 decibels, a level i think is too dangerous. This is just a terrible, loud, horrendous noise that we have been subjected to for nearly 8 months It causes ear pain, intense ear pain, and I've gone to my doctor and he told me I've got a hearing loss in not just the one ear but in both ears as a result, Church's are exempt from Los Angeles California noise law.
