I would like to report that I brought a 42 inch plasma television maker is SANYO and I too brought it from Walmart May 10, 2007 and as of this year March 2008, it does not work. I spent $900.00 on this television and I called it in to the repair tv that they specialized in and also I have been getting the run around since then. I was told that my tv had a bad Y substain board and that it was going to take time to get this part. I have been waiting on this part since then, I still have not gotten it.
I have tried calling Sanyo almost everyday and I am getting annoyed with the bad customer service experience, claiming they will take your number and call you back after they found out what is going on. You never rec'd a call back, and when you do call back they have nothing for you. I feel violated, I brought this television for a lot of money and the tv is only a 2006. I have a big screen tv now, the maker is RCA and I had that tv for 12 years never been a problem. This company should be shut down and I feel that there should be a class action lawsuit on this company, because I know for a fact that they sold a lot of these lemons and they are not getting the results they need.
VERY FRUSTRATING CUSTOMER!!!!!

LCD/Plasma HDTV's are "throw away"

all TV's made nowadays are considered "throw away" TVs. They usually last about 1-2yrs on average.
There are only very slight differences between an expensive Samsung and a cheap Sanyo HDTV. The main difference is the warranty coverage and length. Pretty much all of the components are made as cheap as possible in China and then labeled by Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Panasonic, Hitachi, LG, etc. etc. Higher end brands sometimes have better quality sheets of LCD, better bezel and more inputs/display options. That's it.
The worst part is that even if you purchase a warranty you'll have to ship them the TV - most likely half way across the US - at your expense - if it breaks after a certain amount of time from purchase - usually 1-3months. If you get a high end set they'll send someone out to give a diagnostic and then they'll supply you with the box and packaging and then schedule a pickup. They'll usually do this for up to 1-2yrs.
I know from experience that Olevia warranty will pay to ship the TV to them if it breaks within 45 days on sets larger than 42". After the 45 days you have to pay to get it shipped to them at a rough cost of $225. At that point who knows what's going to happen or if they'll even cover the repairs. Point being you're better off just accepting that TV's made nowadays are "throw away". - and not spending $900 on a brand thats not Samsung, Sharp, Sony or Panasonic.

i helped my girlfriend buy a sanyo digital camera 5 or 6 mos ago. it had a 90 day warranty. guess what? not even a month after the 90 days were up,it went bad. lcd viewfinder stopped working and camera was dead. wal mart refused to refund her money or replace the camera. so were out 200 bucks. lesson learned. dont buy junk made by sanyo!
