BEWARE OF SAVEOLOGY'S FREE TRIALS - YOU ARE ABOUT THE BE SCAMMED.
I took advantage of a 2-day free trial (Saveology Dining Club membership) on April 24, 2013.
I had a look at their deals and platform and considered they did not fit my needs. I contacted Saveology one (1) hour only after signing up (so the very same day, on April 24) in order to cancel my Dining Club membership ($9.95/month) during the free trial period. I sent them 2 messages via their 'Contact Us' field online (one on April 24, the other one on April 25) BEFORE the end of the free trial. I also sent two emails to two different email addresses on April 24, once again BEFORE the end of the free trial. I got 4 different 'case numbers' for these messages.
No response from Saveology.
On April 26, still BEFORE the end of the 2 day free trial, I called Saveology and explained the problem. The representative I spoke with was not helpful and instead of cancelling my membership she tried to sell me other services. I had to insist to have my membership cancelled before the free trial expires. She told me she would escalate the issue to her management. I told her there was nothing to escalate as I was calling before the end of the trial.
My spouse called 20 minutes later and spoke with another representative who was not more helpful. Again he tried to sell him services. He was not interested to know the case number my spouse wanted to give him to prove we contacted Saveology before the end of the free trial. My spouse insisted to have the membership cancelled.
My membership was cancelled on April 29 but Saveology charged my credit card anyway. They did not reverse the charge or processed a refund. I understand now why they did not promptly get back to me (they actually never did) and why they have been trying to delay any membership cancellation requests. What kind of business practice is that?
On May 1, I called a third time, and the representative told me there was no refund processed. WHAT? Saveology knows I asked them to cancel my membership before the end of the free trial because they emailed me a case number for each message I sent to them, and because they cancelled the membership following our calls, both made BEFORE the free trial expires.
Do not do business with Saveology. They trick and scam their customers. Their customer service is probably the worst I ever had to deal with. They use dishonest business practices to keep your money. I am disputing the charge with my credit card company. I also contacted the BBB.
