I called sears automotive on 11/08/05 to get a price on a tire. I was looking for the Bridgestone Winterforce tire in the size p245/70/16. (Roy) Gave me a price of $84.62 per tire.
Sears ran a sale ad in the local sunday paper on 11/13/05. They had the Bridgestone Winterforce tires that I was looking for on sale in the ad.
I called on 11/16/05 (which was within the sale period) and spoke to (Roy) and asked for a price on the same tire as above. I told (Roy) that their was a sale ad that they were running on these tires starting on 11/13/05.
(Roy) Gave me a price of $86.99 per tire. I ask why is the price of the same tire I got a price quote on a week before that WAS NOT on sale cheaper then a tire that is on sale?
(Roy) could not answer as to why the tire cost more on sale then not on sale. All he had to say was that that is what the computer is showing him. He didn't try to find out why nor try to satisfy a potential customer.
Becareful, a sale ad is not always as sale ad at sears automotive.

first off in regard to the price difference did it acre to any one that there might have been back to back sales with different sales discounts . they often change sales mid week. the one price you mentioned that ended in .64 cents was a sale the other one is a regular price . another thing look at their adds very carefully . just because its in the flyer doesnt mean its on sale . the winterforce tire is aspecial order only you might have bought a variation of the tire at firestone but the winterforce is acobranded tire sold only at sears

Customer is not confused.
The regular price/cost per tire was $82.64.
The sale price/cost was $86.99.
The Bridgestone Winterforce tires were advertised in the Scranton Times Sunday paper.
Firestone/Bridgestone DOES make the Winterforce tire in the size P245/70R/16. I did purchase them directly from a Firestone/Bridgestone store. I invite you or anyone else to come and see them in person. I truly do not think/believe that Firestone/Bridgestone made these tire special for me and only me in this size.
As an employee as you say you are, maybe you need to ask someone more knowledgeable about what is on sale and what is a regular price. Maybe you should get to know what products you do carry and don't carry. This could be why customers may become confused, because the employee's are confused!!!

A Case of Confused Customer

Let me help out! First of all the Bridgestone Winterforce does not come in a P245/70R16(You can check the Bridgestone/Firestone website). Second, the Winterforce is not a tire that Sears keeps in stock unless it was special ordered for someone...also, this tire would not be advertised in any Sears fliers or weekly ads.ears does carry a Bridgestone Weatherforce that is very commonly advertised, but it does not come in the P245/7016. You can see how the two tires could be easily confused.
As for the associate...he sounds fairly new and could have very easily asked someone more knowledgable. As for the sale prices...when Sears advertises a sale on tires or a particular tire, it is not going to be sold at regular price. $82.64 is a sale price, $86.99 is not. Sometimes the tire may show up regular price, but there may be a 10% off sale using your Sears card or 10% customer appreciation sale. In any case it sounds like there was some confusion on the customer's part and the associate.

Things go UP in price. The difference from one week to the next was $1.37. This is normal. As I said, they run the ad claiming a "SALE", but it's actually just the normal price.
What part of that do you not understand. I'll make it easy for you...THEY SELL THE TIRES FOR THE SAME PRICE, SALE OR NOT, COUPON OR NOT, AD OR NOT. Read it slowly Toby. This is a normal marketing trick. It is not a ripoff. If the list price on that tire is $100, and they sell it for $87, you just "saved" $13 off list.
I get the Sears circulars down here in the paper. I have yet to see one that actually says anything on the tire pages except the prices. They don't say anything about being cheaper than the week before, or less than their regular price.
As for my shop being in here, never going to happen. I run a LEGAL, ETHICAL shop. I don't let the customers tell me how to run my business. I also make sure they get safe reliable repairs. My customers are not CHEAP either. I ran the tards out early on. All I have left are people with enough sense to know they cannot get a 4 wheel brake job for $100, oil changes for $8, and cars fixed for free. I also have an assload of commercial accounts. Those are other businesses that know they cannot make money if their vehicles are broke down. They spend lots of money.
Government schools did not help you in life. Please go to adult learning at your community college and take a course in business. You will be amazed by what you are taught.

If you read the complaint, you would have read and noticed that the prices are different.
As it is stated in the complaint, the sale price was more then the original price.
By your reply, it sounds as if your business should also be listed here. Someday I'm sure it will be by the way you describe the way you run a business.

Most places have the same price for the Big Sale, as they have every other day of the year. I do it too, sort of. I advertise a good low price on stock replacement mufflers. I charge that whether they have a coupon or not. I do not call it a sale though. I also don't require the coupon to get that price. I just advertise it and let it go at that.
Oh wait...none of my customers write bad stuff about me or my shop. HAHAHAHA!

It cost s-mart, I mean sears, money to run those ads. They have to make up the money somewhere. Roy is typical of the current sears employees. He doesn't know, he doesn't care. ALLLLLLL he knows is what the computer tells him and that's it PERIOD
