It not only happened to me just one time, but twice! The first I went there was in the winter and purchased a coat, I wore it for a week and was not satisfied at all with the item. I went in to exchange the item or get my refund (which is stated clearly on the back of the receipt) Satisfaction Guaranteed or you can exchange or receive a refund. Well, as I was at the counter waiting on the "Manager" to come approve my refund (they were out of the one that I had purchased), the lady got all hasty and was like "You are not going to get a refund, I can guarantee that." Low and behold the manager and I got into a discussion about the coat and then in a nasty, hateful voice the "Manager" said, "Ugh, go ahead and give a refund THIS time."

Next instance was just this afternoon. I went back there after 7 months of the last incident, and purchased a pair of dress shoes. I got back to work, put them on and walked from my desk to the printer and discovered that they were too big. They would not stay on my feet.

So I promptly took them off, put them back in the back and went right back to Sears. They, again had to call a manager to see if they would just exchange them this time. I wasn't even gone for 30 minutes and she said "No I am sorry you can't exchange these, they look like they have been worn outside. I explained what I had just done, and that I have not even been gone from the mall for 30 min. (my work is 5 minutes away) and hadn't even worn them for 10 min. She also was crapy in explaining to the cashier that she could exchange the shoes, and then "I guess zero them out, now that we can not resale them."

My only problem is that if it says "Satisfaction Guaranteed or you money back in exchange or refund" then it better be held to. Don't put it on everything if you are not going to hold to your policy. I have never had this much trouble in exchanging or returning anything anywhere else, and I now know that I will never be back at Sears again.

You wore it a week?

AUTHOR: Dean - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 08, 2005

You wore the coat a week before you figured out you didn't like it, then wanted your money back!!

That is totally unreasonable. No wonder merchants have a hard time makng money with people like you. I would bet you did more in those shoes than you say.
