I saw your website and have a horrendous story to add.

We made an appointment for October 11th to have a 3 year refrigerator fixed which is covered under warranty for service and parts. Sears claims it isn't covered because it was purchased in 1999 yet the metal plate inside the refrigerator states manufactured in 07-01.

I brought this to their attention and they are covering it under warranty but they said the store where we bought used a dummy date of 1999 at the time of the sale. Sounds like a scam to me.

Sears canceled our appt on October 11th (Columbus Day) because their technician called in sick. The technician came on October 12th and replaced the wrong part (I took the day off) On October 18th a second technician came and stated the fridge needed a compressor which are not carried in stock. (I took the day off again) He ordered the part due in on Friday October 22.

Sears canceled their appointment with us for October 25th because the part never arrived.(I stayed home again from work because no one informed us the part never came in)

The part arrived and we scheduled an appointment for Wednesday Oct. 28th. Sears canceled the appointment because there was no technician even covering our area for that day. So why did they schedule the appointment? (took this day off from work too)

We had an 8-12 appointment scheduled for today. (October 30th) At 12 noon I called the 1-800-4-MYHOME number and was told the technician was running late but that he was positively coming. At 1pm Sears called and canceled because the technician was at the hospital and hadn't visited anyone on his route that day, and never called in sick to Sears. They claim they called his wife at the hospital and found out about his injury and that there was no other available technician to come to our house.

Meanwhile because the compressor is bad, all the other parts on the fridge are being worn down, and the fridge keeps shutting off. We have been without refrigerated food for 20 days now. Sears will not reimburse us for spoiled food either or a new appliance.

I called the national number and told Sears that my husband and I had taken 4 days off from work, and that Monday Nov. 1st will be our 6th day off. They said they can't compensate lost wages but they'll send us a $100 gift certificate.

We'll never use it as we are done with Sears. We bought a fridge, washer, dryer, range and over $7000 in gift certificates/clothes/tools from them this year but never again will we shop there. We are writing a letter to the President of Sears with a carbon copy to the Better Business Bureau, and the Massachusetts Attorney General

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!

Refrigerator Broken Again

AUTHOR: Donna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 03, 2004

Our refrigerator is broken again, the same repair needs to be made as it is running continuously wearing down the parts. Again we had 8 scheduled appoinments, Sears cancelled 5, installed the wrong part on the 6th, showed up without the part on 7th, and cancelled again on the 8th. We called to schedule the 9th tonight and the operator said "It's not the techs cancelling the appointments, its the routing dept." I said "I never said the techs cancelled them, I said the techs never showed up for them." And what does it matter - Sears cancelled them all and the appliance is still not repaired. She had the nerve to suggest that I consider purchasing a new one from them so they don't have to keep coming to repair it every 90 days. Why would I buy a new one from them when they can't fix the current one just bought in 2001? We did end up cancelling our credit cards with them and as long as it's covered under warranty I'll keep calling them until it's fixed!

Attention K-Mart(Sears) Shoppers

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, November 18, 2004

To the ex-sears shrill. I see today where K-MART bought sears. Pretty amazing considering K-Mart was in bankruptcy some 18 months ago. They probably picked it up real cheap. I can't wait to go into a sears and hear the golden phrase"Attention sears shoppers". Do you think they'll bring back the flashing blue lights too? I can't wait. What did I say about Montgomery Ward? Have a nice day.

Didn't I Tell You

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, October 31, 2004

For the ex sears shrill. Had the exact same thing happen to me except it was the garage door opener. 4 blown appointments. The only good thing was they had sent out the part to repair it after 5 weeks. When they called to schedule the 5th appointment I said forget it, I had installed it myself. My dad bought a $800 fridge from sears 4 years ago. Fri night it starts leaking water and not working. Sat morn they call to schedule a service call. They only go out there Mon, Wed, and Fri. Sat afternoon sears calls back to cancel the Mon call and reset for Wed. Luckily they have a 14 year old fridge THAT STILL WORKS. Transferred the food into it.

After that last experience with sears I canceled my maintanence agreements on 4 different items and got a balance of $500 back in a check since I had canceled my sears account and had cut up my card a few years before that. Yes sir, as the ex sears shrill said, sears is getting better everyday, their appliances are the best, and more and more people are becoming sears customers everyday. I wonder if it's a net loss? For every one new customer, they lose two old customers. First Montgomery Wards, can sears be far behind.
