On November 12, I stumbled across a web site called SellOffAuctions.com. I placed a bid on an I-phone, but lost the bid.
When I reviewed my MasterCard account I discovered that this company had charged my account with $704.53. When I contacted the company I was told that the money could not be refunded. Keep in mind that the company did not provide me with a product or service.
I then contacted the Las Vegas Better Business Bureau and registered a formal complaint against the company. SellOffAuction.com e-mailed the BBB to say that they were sending me a check for $179.00. I received the check yesterday and used it to pay down my account. Assuming that the check is 'good', the company still owes me $525.53.
I contacted the Las Vegas police who advised me to fill in an internet complain form. I have done this. All I can do is wait.
Have you been stung by this company? Maybe somebody should organize a class action suit.

Actually, there was a "service" provided...

...but the "service" was something that you most likely were not aware of when you signed up on this site and submitted account information...
Entertainment, and GAMBLING.
If you read through the information on the website and how it works..you will find they have a LOT more in common with an online gambling site or casino..then a legitimate auction or a good alternative to buying retail as they imply is the intent of the site.
Now looking objectivily at the business model..it seems logical that just like a casino, it is always in the best interests of the "house", that as many "players" lose as possible and as MUCH as possible. Otherwise, the business model tumbles like a tower of cards in a wind storm.
Heck, they even offer and promote using "bid butler", which seems to me to be a way for you to gamble and bid while you are asleep or away, insuring they are continually SUCKING money out of your account even while you are not logged onto the site...brilliant on their part, but not so good for the "consumer".
What you have working in your favor, is that this site most likely has a buttload of similar complaints and reports against it. Make some copies of these reports and complaints, and present them to your bank and request a charge back due to fraud. Let the site know you are doing this as sometimes they would rather refund then have any more charge backs forced against them.
Best of luck.
