I asked for cancellation with serverpronto.com 29 Aug 2007. They said I had to fill a stupid mail with a copy of an official ID (driver's license, passport) and a copy including front and back of my credit card, to a strange adress on another country, or else, I could not get my service cancelled.

I hesitated, but at the end, I sent the documents, because I couldn't stand getting charged every month for a service I wasn't using. I've sent the letter at sep. 3th.

After some while insisting with the support via email, me asking if my mail had arrived, they told me address I sent my precious and confidential information was NO LONGER IN SERVICE!!! I was crazy! My ID and credit card had been delivered to a complete STRANGER in ANOTHER COUNTRY!!!!

I sent emails to the support in fury, and they limited to say that they had processed the cancellation request and that I would get a refund to any incorrect charges. This was sent in 28 Sep.

Finally, I could rest. They charged me for September, and again for October (they say the service is charged 30 days after the cancellation request).

But, for my complete surprise, AGAIN on November they charged me!!! THAT is a nightmare company with a nightmare service.

I'm trying now to cancel the last charge with the credit card. I'm never ever going to deal with then again.

Considering all the charges for the service I DID NOT use, I was ripped off by U$$96,00.

Really fast. Call your credit card and cancel the account now. The numbers on the back of the card are proof that the card is in your possesion.

If you sent a copy of of your drivers license and/or passport to another country, it would be a good idea to pay for Identity theft protection from a valid company like Visa or Mastercard.

Finally, with my constant complains, the company said my account has been canceled, and the last two invoices would be refunded to my account.

Let's hope they really refund it!

Uff ... finally got rid of this nightmare.

I don't recommend doing business with that company, unless you live in the USA (so you can sue then if they don't wanna cancel your account), and you really know how to manage a server, and measure the bandwidth it consumes manually. There is no bandwidth limit warning, it will just pop up on your next invoice if you don't stop your traffic on time.
