Sharinn & Lipshie How many times Has Sharinn & Lipshie put a freeze on peoples bank accounts and how can they legally do it? Garden City New York

Somehow there has been a "legal hold" put on my bank account by the party whose information I have just provided. I never received any warning, notices, letters nor any phone calls to inform me about this matter. They way I found out that there was a levy put on my account was when I went food shopping and my debit card was declined.It was payday and I had direct deposit, so I called the bank and they informed me of the situation and provided me with only the name and phone number of the party that put the hold on my account.

I called them and was treated with rudeness and harshness. I asked the rep. many questions and was told the following, the debt was for a Discover card I had back in 2000,BUT he claimed they were not representing Discover card,nor would he tell me who he was representing.He claimed that the amount owed was $8,000, but the letter the bank later sent me states that they were informed that the amount was $5500. I asked how this can be done when I NEVER received anything from them. He gave me the information he had on me and apparently they were sending notices to the wrong address, BUT they had my correct cell phone number, and never called to inform me.

He said regardless of this fact,they still wanted payment in full,and are unwilling to workout anything out. So now at this point, I'm penniless, I can't pay my rent or put food on the table for my kids, nor can I pay for an attorney,because they refuse to work anything out with me, He said I have to pay this in full or prove that the debt was satisfied. I gave him my correct address and requested a break down of this debt, but I still haven't received anything. I don't know what to do. This cannot be legal. How is it that they can legally devastate people by wiping out their bank accounts like this?

Most People do not carry much cash on them on a daily basis, nor do they hide their money under the mattress for emergencies any more. Most of rely on our debit cards and check books, so when companies like this comes along and takes everything with no warning and without offering an option,What are those of us like me who was literally left with 50 cents in my pocket, supposed to do?
