I placed an order with Shop HQ on December 30, 2013 and received notice the following day that my order was cancelled because the items I ordered I requested to use value pay, a watch and blu ray player, and when I requested to use Value Pay it's like asking for a line of credit so they pulled my credit report and decided to cancel my order.
I have been shopping with Shop NBC/Shop HQ for over 10 years now. I have never had this problem. I placed an order for a watch the week before Christmas and put it on Value Pay. That order went through with no issue. It's not like I even ordered anything to set up a red flag. The watch was like $80 and the blu ray player was $150. They've also never had a problem with my payments in the past. My credit might suck but I've always paid my value pays/easy pays/etc. They just lost this customer and all my orders will now go to the other two main tv/online companies that also use this form of payment but do not pull your credit report.
This is such a violation of privacy and without my/our permission. Value pay isn't even a line of credit. Only loans are lines of credit. This isn't a loan, it's a form of payment. What they have done is highly illegal, especially since it affects and individuals credit score. So, if someone starts a class action lawsuit, let me know, I'll join in it!

Its is STILL a form of credit and as such since they new year was right around the corner, one can safely assume that they dropped ALL customers below a certain credit score. You would have given them permission when you FIRST signed up for the value pay. You MIGHT want to check your paperwork BEFORE you embarass yourself any further. You must have had a issue go through during 2013 that effects your credit in 2014. Instead of blasting them BECAUSE THEY DO NOT WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH YOU. Try finding out the WHY first. Atleast that way you come to this site with FACTS and INFORMATION, not supposition and whining.
And point of fact, what you are thinking of is about ACCURACY of the credit reports. Not running a credit report. If value pay, pays off the FULL value of your purchase and you make payments on that purchase then guess what, ITS CREDIT!!! Its a TYPE OF LOAN!!! THEY paid the full amount of the purchase and are KIND enough to allow you to make payments. So they would have EVERY RIGHT to check your credit report. They want to make sure your not another deadbeat attempting to scam them for some free goods and run off without paying.
