I purchased a DLP chip in November, but didn't get around to replacing the old chip because I only had 2 white dots, indicating dead pixels on my TV screen with the old chip so it was still usable. In any case, I finally replaced the old chip in February, and it failed immediately, with the screen covered densely with both white and black dots.

I contacted ShopJimmy; also known as "PartTrader" and asked for a replacement, but they were insistent that since it was past the 30 day warranty that they wouldn't help me, despite the fact that the chip was clearly defective. They made various, clearly false excuses like "My supplier won't accept a return after 30 days". I even then suggested that they sell me a replacement at their cost, but they just ignored what was a very reasonable compromise request.

Thus, I looked on the Alibaba website, and found the same chip for $100 plus $15 shipping, as opposed to their $188 charge. I've now gotten that chip, and it is the identical part by the same manufacturer, and I got it in 3 days by DHL.

I'd suggest avoiding ShopJimmy / PartTrader at all costs! Even if the chip I got from China is also defective, the customer service will be no worse, and I'm out a lot less money!
