While reconciling our bank statement, we noticed a charge of $14.95 to AP9 shopping essentials.com. neither of us remember signing up for anything of this name. I called the number listed in the charge on the bank statement 888-999-0564 and spoke with an agent, Sarah (#152520) and explained the situation, she said she was sorry and referred me to a supervisor, Rose (#9105). Rose said no problem and that in two days the charges would be refunded. I also had her explain how these charges are started.

We have used a site called Restaurant.com on several occasions to get discount coupons and have had no problems (we thought), I called them at 800-979-8985 and spoke with their rep, ED. His reply was more or less tough s**t, you signed up for it when you agreed to take the survey at the end of the transaction of purchasing the coupons at restaurant.com. WE just want to reinforce teh previous complaints and let the world know that the site is still at work..

Shopping essentials issues a refund quickly.. They know they are a ripoff company. When someone calls to raise hell with them, they seem to be expecting the call and quickly issue a refund. How many victims dont know until months or years later??

The disclosure is there on all the websites that sell Shopping Essentials

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

When you choose not to read them, you get billed.

The Today show did a piece on this back in Aug due to viewer complaints and they researched every single website and discovered that the disclosure about signing up was there - no one bothered to read it.

I DO NOT CONDONE the attitude of the person you spoke to - however you do have to take some responsiblity for what happened.

I have avoided this by avoiding the surveys and not taking advantage of the $$ offers they also use.

When shopping on the internet I print off my onscreen receipt and write on it DID NOT DO SURVEY OR TAKE $$ OFFER. I have never had the charge show up simply by paying attention to what it in front of me.
