Sleepy's - the mattress professionals...

I have purchased Chattam-Wells Queen size mattress from them in early 2000. After about a year worth of really good sleep i recommended my girlfriend (nowadays my wife) to purchase second, larger size mattress from the same company. Everything but the size is identical (firmness, model line). 3 months later our backs were hurting in the mornings (something i have never had with (at this point a year and a half old) queen size; i have assumed it needs a bit of time to 'loosen up';

in May 2005, I called in warranty service as I could not take the pain any longer. Shortly there after (3 weeks) subcontracted inspection company suggested that the way the business works is for us to make ourselves available when they have time... i called customer service and requested a different company who promptly showed 1.5 months later.

The inspection continued for 2 minutes (literally) where the service technician stretched a string across the mattress, took 2 pictures and walked out (this happened after numerous conversations with Sleepys customer service and subcontractor that there are no depressions to speak of but there is another mattress which is extremely comfortable (read: look for not so obvious things like damaged springs etc..)

More phone calls followed to customer service, - finally on November 11, 2005, the second company showed up. The inspection lasted 2 minutes with a string across the mattress and 2 pictures.

It seems to be the case that all Sleepy's warranty services are complete rip off, a charade designed to lure inexperienced customers right in

All of my requests to inspect queen size mattress , compare it to king size and let me know what the differences are went on unanswered. Two products with identical specifications in everything but size .... you'd think someone would care,-yet technicians/customer service flatly refused any and all requests.

At this point I have filed with Federal Trade Commission for "False Advertisement" "Bait and Switch tactics"; Filing with BBB shortly.

If anyone experienced the same problems please post replies - if BBB wont do the trick, I'll be filing different paperwork with local courts. If I can make it class action - it is likely to receive more attention and perhaps get some money back to everyone who got hurt in this scam.

The cost of the mattress in my case is $2200 prorated over 20 year life span, Sleepys owes me ~$1500 (in my mind at least) - and I would like nothing more then make them pay even if the money will end up going to the lawyer...
