We purchased a king size set from them about 2 years ago at a great sale price and the mattress was sagging so we had it inspected. They came out and agreed that the mattress was defective. Let me restate - they agreed it was defective. So they offered a credit to be used in the store of about $400 or to call customer support for an even exchange. Well when we went into the store today, they said $400 wouldn't even come close to covering a new mattress comparable to the one we had and it would be closer to $1,000 for just the mattress.

So they called customer support to say we just want to exchange it. They told their own salesperson that the mattress we have is discontinued so therefore there is no even exchange and we would have to purchase something else with the $400 and pay the difference. So when we questioned the salesperson on how that makes sense since it was a defective mattress, she agreed it didn't make sense but said there's not much she can do. We then called the manufacturer ourselves and spoke to someone who basically said the same thing to us as well in a very rude manner as if it was our fault that their mattress was defective. When we questioned the value of the credit of $400, they said it is what we paid for it 2 years ago and that there is nothing we can do.

Of course, this is probably a joke because the sales reps put any figure on a piece of paper when they sell it during a sale weekend such as July 4th or Memorial Day. They could have put 200 or 700 - it clearly is irrelevant because they will not honor the exchange policy. So basically, because they discontinued their product and raised their prices, the customer is screwed out of money to buy a new one or live with a defective mattress that is continually getting worse. They need to realize it is not the customer's fault that their product is defective and should honor the exchange policy for a comparable product - no matter what the sale is that the store is having, cost of final sale, and future costs of newer products as they continue to rise and be way over valued.

It's a scam. Beware. Take your money elsewhere!

We are also on Day 4 of no returned phonecalls from Sleepys!!

Sleepys Issue Resolved- Satisfied with Result

After a week of back and forth and dealing directly with Corporate, Sleepys has decided to work with us in resolving our warranty and exchage issue. They eventually agreed with us and understood our concerns and have issued an exchange for a new mattress at no additional cost to us.

We appreciate Sleepys willingness working with their customers until they are satisifed.

Yes, they did honor the exchange policy; however, the exchange applies to the same model only. It is a very common policy. The discontinued product is a tactic in marketing so that the exchange cannot occur -- the way companies nowadays use for a work around.

When we questioned the value of the credit of $400, they said it is what we paid for it 2 years ago and that there is nothing we can do.

That is a fair evaluation. You are eligible to get what you paid for. The product may be defective, but what is their warranty? If there is no warranty, a "too good to be true" deal is what you get.

They need to realize it is not the customer's fault that their product is defective and should honor the exchange policy for a comparable product

Because you bought it when they gave you a deal and did honory the exchange, it is not completely their fault. It is also your fault to fall for their deal and found out what you get. If you ever see any "too good to be true" deal again, you have to look for a catch. Don't try to play innocent.
