When I bought my ticket it said on smartfares.com that I can buy it risk free if I cancel within 24 hours. I purchased the ticket at 3:30 pm April 1st. I then found a cheaper flight with another airline that was leaving sooner. I already missed one day of work because I couldn't find a flight on Easter Sunday that didn't cost a fortune. So I called Smart Fares the next morning (less than 24 hours from when I bought the tickets) to cancel my flight, which it says to do on the website.
The agent told me that since my flight leaves in less than 24 hours, the fees are non refundable. I told him that the website says I have up to 24 hours to cancel. He then said because I booked with an economy airline (Frontier) I would have to talk to the airline to get a refund. I did this and they told me they have a $99 cancellation fee. On top of this, they could only give me the refund in form of a credit to fly again with them within 90 days. I have only flown once in my life so would not be likely to use this.
Don't believe the lies!

#1 Consumer Comment
All in small print

This is a typical issue that many people don't see, but sadly it is legal. It is a type of rip off that buyers/consumers must be careful when they see a good deal.
Nothing comes cheap! Whenever you buy anything and it tags with some sort of a good deal, be sure to read the whole page on every page you are going through. It is legal for sellers to put advertising with conditions as long as those conditions are placed anywhere on the page regardless how obvious it is. Because of that, most of them if not all would place conditions somewhere that buyers/consumers don't look or pay attention to (it is called small print). As a result, buyers/consumers fall for their trap. Please be more careful next time in any thing.
