I am another victim of smartcertify's online training course. I enrolled in the "medical billing and coding course", and it didn't take me long to realize how totally inadequate it was.

Though I was upfront with them from the start that I was the one
that would be taking the course, they put the course in my future husband's name for their financing purposes.

I tried to cancel my enrollment with them, once I realized what a joke the course was, but just got they're stupid "pitch" about how I had to take the "Certification" test first, before I was elible for a refund. It takes $250 to take that test, and if you rely on them to pass it--- then your up the creek.

They're very crafty about the financing situation, turning your loan over to GE Capital, so they can get their money immediately - before you realize that you've been taken.

They need to have a "class action lawsuit" taken against them.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Some things you should do...

AUTHOR: Vicki - (U.S.A.)

First of all..be patient..these things take time. I too, have been ripped off by this company..and there are steps you should take to atleast try and resolve it.

Question: Did your future husband sign anything? Including, but not limited to, the online signature form?
You said they put it in his name, even though you were adamant about it being for you. If he didnt sign, then I dont see how GE can make him pay. It seems like all he would have to do is ask GE & SmartCertify to provide proof of his signature, or a recording of him saying he agreed to it. If they dont have anything like that, he/you might have a pretty good chance. (since I'm not a lawyer, this may not be true, but it's still worth a try)

1. Email them and ask for a refund. Make sure and list every reason you think you are entitled to a refund. Try to keep all correspondance through email or writing..phone calls won't help, as there is no proof of what was said. (except on their end, but this wont help you.) Keep all copies.

2. Was any other financing done through a CC Card? I know you mentioned GE, but I thought I should ask. If so, after a reasonable effort on your part to resolve with SmartCertify, take the matter to dispute with the CC Company. (unfortunately, I dont know of a single person that SmartCertify gave money back to without a fight..but you still have to take these steps or no one will listen to you on the complaint end.)

3.File a complaint online with the FTC. At the top left column on their webpage you will see a link; "File a complaint." Below is the link.
http://www.consumer.gov/sentinel/

4.File a complaint with the Attorney Generals Office. That is where SmartCertify is located. Here is the website addy to file a complaint online;
http://myfloridalegal.com/pages.nsf/4492D797DC0BD92F85256CB80055FB97/60FD9BD8FA71A5B185256CD1005EE5C5?OpenDocument

if for any reason the above link doesnt work, just go to Http://myfloridalegal.com and click on the "Consumer Protection" link on the left.

Go to the rip off report listed below. He really did an excellent job of providing the information needed to file complaints with various authorities. Some of these may be copies of mine above, but go over each one to see...

Or hit your back button and look for this title;
"Smart Certify smartcertify.com AKA Forefront Direct Rip-off! Scam Courses/Services! Clearwater Florida *UPDATE ..Since my complaint, I have gotten part of the matter resolved, after threatening a lawsuit"

Good Luck with your fight! and dont get frustrated and give up!
