I bought into SMC believing it to be a money-making business. As I have read from others, they are all but that. I bought the 'gold membership' to avoid monthly payments. I received my business kit and set up my website. I was told the first month was free for the website. The first of what was a lie. Days later I had $29.95 taken out of my checking account. I called three different times and left a message every time. I never received a call back. This put up red flags for me.
I finally got with someone, and got my $29.95 refunded. Then, I made a couple orders. Only to find out I wasn't doing them correctly. I had called my coach for help which he wouldn't return my calls. By this time it was about three weeks into my membership. I decided to cancel it before things really got bad. I followed ALL the things required to receive my refund except for insuring the kit for $100. I refused to do that because it was not worth that much money. I work part-time for the post office so I have a clue about different things needed. I sent it with a delivery conformation only. I'm sure a lot of people are insuring and therefore SMC is claiming not receiving to collect all those $100 insurance claims. Therefore, they can't prove they sent them.
I did not receive the full refund, only $199.95 instead of the $299.95 because the $100 "gift" the gave me for signing up as a gold member. I never knew you had to pay for your free "gift". I can't believe Tom Bosley would advertise for this fraudulent company. I'm sure if an insurance lawyer was to do some checking into the business kit returns, they would find big fraud there.
I have learned my lesson to never trust money-making plans. This lesson has even made me doubt all commercials I see on tv.

I had a similar experience but I learned.

There's no doubt in my mind that SMC can work for some. Many people who are looking to start up a buisness eventually come across SMC.
When I first watched the add on television I was inspired to visit their sight and convinced myself that this can work for us. I wasn't impressed with some of the products I noticed at first but I gave it a shot but like many others I did run into some funny hoggwash.
When I first spoke with a sales rep I wanted to ask some questions but he was more intrested in taking down my personal info. I did have the funds to purchase the Gold membership plus invest in a substantial ammount of inventory to get things rolling.
I was in fact turned down that I was lied to. I personally asked the sales rep if I will get a $100 certificate for free merchandise with my kit and he said yes. I then asked if there were any strings attatched or anything involving order minimums and he said no. So to me that's a killer deal and I'm sure for others that sounded good too. Anything to get you signed up.
The funny thing of course when the kit showed up I get a $100 off my first $400+ order. Takes the whole trust factor out and then there's the buisness coach that kept calling. Not to offend anyone.........I had to replay the message back 4 times because I couldn't understand a word he was saying.
Then I took a look at the products themselves. I honestly wasn't impressed. The shipping charges themselves were not competitive to say the least. Take a trip to your local flea market and you'll probably find 5 or 6 vendors selling the same thing.
The biggest problem in my opionion is that not only are they dishonest and use shoddy tactics to get people to invest is that they somehow give people the impression that the money will just come flowing in. In reality it takes money to make money.
SMC would probably loose 75% of their buisness if they were actually honest and upfront with everyone. The thousands of dollars in the long run to keep a clone web-site running and the cost it would take to get people to go there useing search engines and pay-per click programs through Yahoo and Google.
Afterall, isn't that you would expect from the shoddy buisness coach everyone complaines about.
Words of advice to everyone: Start your own buisness. Do your research and be your own coach. Once you take an intrest in a specific product line start your own web-site through web-hosting companies like godaddy.com It may take hundreds if not thousands and a year to get a good established buisness up and running but that's what buisness is all about. Don't let companys like SMC convince you that you cannot do it on your own. Does take work, but it pays off in the end.
