Smith, Dean & Associates the company is attmeping to collect on a debt that is not mine. they have called my office, home and cell number. When they did not get the response they wanted, they began to threaten me stating that they new I lived and when I worked and they sending the police.They have randomly called nunmbers in my office and telling coworkers I wrote bad checks. OR THEY JUST MAKE UP A DEBT THAT YOU HAVE NEVER HAD, NEVER WILL HAVE AND DO NOT HAVE AND THEY FIGURE THAT IF THEY KEEP HARRASSING YOU, YOU WILL PAY THEM TO STOP. THIS IS EXTORTION AND IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL.

DO NOT ADMIT YOU OWE THE DEBT.

YOU CALL THE CONSUMER FRAUD DIVISION OF YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE AND TELL THEM WHAT THESE PEOPLE ARE DOING.

IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU HAVE NO DEBT AND THEY ARE TRYING TO EXTORT YOU BUT WHERE IN THE WORLD THEY GOT YOUR NAME,ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBERS IS A MYSTERY TO ME!

You cannot be arrested for a debt unless you wrote a bad check and there are statutes of limitations on those as well depending on the State
I had a debt collector try this on me - sued em in court and won
If they call again let them know you know that this is a scam - I have never heard of this so called "debt collector"

If not, could be a skip tracer trying to find an individual who has a name similar to yours - happened to my Grandmother -
Skip tracer called my home looking for a person with same last name but first name was very different
