June 21, 2006: I contacted Speakeasy; ordered service on June 21, 2006 for the whole building (I am the owner);
June 21: speakeasy (Vanessa Jones) sent me a quote for $55.95 per month for service plus $0 hardware charge and $199 installation rebate;
June 22: received notification that my installation address was verified on June 22;
June 24 (8:45 a.m.): sent email informing Speakeasy that my apartment number was #2;
June 25: received notification that my order was rejected for invalid address;
June 26 (7:30 a.m.): send second email informing Speakeasy that my apartment number was #2;
June 26: was told that the phone company would not accept #2 as a valid address, even though Matthew, the rep, told them that was my address.
Somehow the address issue got resolved.
July 11: Matthew Keyes contacts me about getting a rep to my house to perform the install; claims theyve been trying to contact me with no success.
July 11: I inform Matthew that I can only be there on a Saturday, and ask for the earliest available Saturday. I tell Matt that I need service BY THE 17TH.
July 11: Matthew Keyes sends me an email at 2:54 pm informing me that local dispatch will send a tech out between 4pm and 7pm on Thursday, July 13th. I arrange for someone to be home.
July 13: no one shows up between 4p.m. and 6:30 p.m. I call Matthew. He claims a service rep is at my apartment, but no one is here. I call him back to say that no one is here. The rep claims something is wrong with the line. The rep appears to be lying because I am home and NEVER SEE A REP.

July 16: Matt writes and asks me to perform COOP loop tests before Covad will dispatch a tech for repair; I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS BROKEN. I try to call twice and am on hold for 15 min to hour. I give up.
July 16: I get a bill for $339 from Speakeasy. STILL NO SERVICE. Matthew claims he will credit back the charges for the install as the install is dragging out.
July 18: I finally get through to perform COOP loop tests. The rep tells me to plug in my modemI HAVE NO INSIDE LINE; IT HAS NOT YET BEEN INSTALLED! I HAVE NO PLACE TO PLUG IN A MODEM. The rep seems confused.

At this point Speakeasy is a day late and Im fed up. I cancel my order, telling Matthew that, at this point it is obvious that they cannot get this together. Matt states that he is sorry for the frustrations, but that Getting the technicians onsite to do these installs is half the battle, then he continues by writing that getting them to complete the work properly can be such a frustration also.

They sent me another bill for $94.58 after deleting the bogus "no show appointment" charge of $150. They want me to pay $94.58 because THEY COULD NOT INSTALL SERVICE FOR ME. This is fraud. This is a scam.
