Special Data Processing, NME SDP a scam? Not quite, but d**n close Clearwater Florida

I am a former associate of Special Data Processing in Clearwater FL. The company is actually called "National Magazine Exchange" as heavily noted on this and some other sites.

Without going into great detail, I just wanted to say that the company is not a 100% scam. It is just the tactics they use, the methods, and many of the associates that are questionable. For one the companies hiring process is horrid. There are often group interviews, no drug testing, and the requirements for the entry level sales department are low. Basically if you can read and are coherent, you got the sales job! This makes for a high turnover rate, some shady people, druggies and questionable associates that are greedy, immoral and just looking to fill pockets. Not to say everyone is like that, but many are.

The bottom line is, there IS a sweepstakes, there IS a winner, and you WILL get that magazines you order unless the mail is jacked up. The billing methods are shady though and you will hear many offers for a 1.29 or 1.68 a week rate, but its compounded into monthly installments that are much higher. Its a psychological trick, branded after much research and number crunching.

Some people are really happy with their mags, and thats totally fine. Its not a horrible deal altogether if you get the magazines you actually wants. But just be sure that if you want to enter the sweepstakes, you do so sober with a clear head.... otherwise youll be calling to cancel asap. By the way, be prepared for many a rebuttal and offer when you attempt to cancel also.

I worked there for a while to make ends meet and it paid ok (which was a downward sliding scale due to pay cuts). But I have to admit, there were times that I felt like I was part of a questionable operation that treats its employees and customers like a number. They are probably just barely on the edge of being "legal".
