SPECTRUM RESEARCH GROUP Check for $3,934 received. After 5 day hold, called to learn that there were no funds in Texas bank. NORTH MORAGA California

On 1/21/09, received check from SPECTRUM RESEARCH GROUP in the amount of $3,934 with instructions to call Michael Summers or Laura More at 888 832 1147. I was instructed to deposit the check immediately...I deposited the next day in an account which I don't use with a balance of $13 +. I was told that I was to be a Mystery Shopper and my first assignment was to spent $20 at Sears and $40 at Walmart.

Further at Walmart I was to send a money gram in the amount of $3500 to Canada: Kathy Jones - 225 Bank St. Ottawa, Canada. with a cost of approximately $100. Balance of funds were for the shopping assignments + payment for my services in the amount of $371.

After shopping at Sears and Walmart, I was to fill out an assessment of my experience there. The check was from Metroplex Pain Consultants. I could keep the items purchased. I was called several times by Michael Summers asking if I had completed my assignment. I told him about the 5 day hold which would mean that the check would clear 1/28/09. Still he continued to call before the clearance date.

Finally I faxed him my irritation about being called to complete something that couldn't be completed until the check cleared. Then I call my bank and learned that the Metroplex Pain Consultant account had no funds. So I faxed Michael Summers and told him that there were no funds. I asked "Did you really think that I was going to use MY funds - not YOURS - to send a moneygram to Canada?". No response and now my account has a hold on it. I was asked to call (210) 489 8891 to verify the updated status of the Texas check. I have had time to do that.
