Sprint Corporation ripoff billing for services which I had explicity declined Overland Park Kansas

Sprint tried to trick me into paying for services I didn't order.

I had a typical, one-year contract with Sprint. About a month before the contract's expiration date, I informed them that I didn't want to renew it. Instead of simply letting the contract end as requested, Sprint replied with evasive, weasel-worded messages which apparently were intended to make it as hard as possible for me to stop being a Sprint customer. One of their artificial obstacles was to tell me that the only way for me to avoid renewing the contract was to phone them on the precise day that it was to expirenot one day earlier or later.

I nevertheless persisted, phoning on the precise day required and repeating my request via e-mail. Sprint assured me that my contract would not be renewedbut a month later contradicted that assurance by sending me an invoice for the first billing period after the contract's expiration. They thus tried to trick me into paying for services which I had not ordered, had not used, and had even explicitly and repeatedly declined.

It took me many hours, including a written complaint to the FCC, to get Sprint to back down from its attempt to defraud me. I believe that I succeeded only because there was a clear record of e-mail messages. I also believe that what happened to me is standard practice for Sprint. Apparently this company has calculated that even if some customers refuse to surrender, it can still confuse and intimidate others.

If anyone you know is thinking about doing business with Sprint, warn them before it's too late. Friends don't let friends sign up with Sprint.
