Why not just make an arrangement?

AUTHOR: brownsong - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 10, 2010

I have always been successful in making payment arrangements with companies. But they have to be notified by you and the terms have to be agreeable to you and them both. You can't just send them a little here and there without them agreeing to it. Call them, be pleasant and explain your situation. They will most likely make a plan that you can afford. And don't worry about court. Unless it's a huge amount of money, like thousands, they will just write it off if you don't pay them. But it will give you bad credit, so the best thing to do is just call them and work something out.

By law they can't take it to a collection agency

 - And what law is that?

Let me guess you "heard" somewhere that a company can not turn you over to collections or sue you for a debt as long as you pay "something". Well sorry to say that is very..very..false. In fact paying actually can backfire on you because every single payment you make just resets the Statute of Limitations, which means they have more time to file a suit if they so desire. I am not saying don't pay them, but you need to make sure what you pay them is actually going to do some good.

It does not matter how many receipts you have to prove you paid them something. If they do not agree with what you are paying they have every right to take further action. This can include turning you over to a collection agency and/or filing a suit. I am sure when you said you would see them in court, that you gave them a good laugh.

POSTED: Wednesday, February 10, 2010

Sry I was PO'd when i wrote the original report and left of some info.

I cancelled my account back in Jan, 2010 and went to AT&T. I've been making payments to sprint on the finelly bill. By law they can't take it to a collection agency, and i told sprint that. But sprint told me that there policey and there was nothing they could do about it. Thats why I told them i would see them in court. I have the reciets to prove I'm making payments to them.
