When applying for a trial account with Stamps.com, there was misleading information regarding the subscription plan including the terms of service and cancellation of service with the company. Even though the account was never utilized and subscription was signed up for by accident, Stamps.com did no action to refund "monthly" fees including billing me an additional 15.99 the day following account termination explaining this was for the final month of service and they are not liable for incorrect submissions to their website or for customers that choose to pay the monthly subscription but not utilize their services. Stamps.com should be much more attentive to customer concerns, complaints, and termination of accounts including credits when justified.

What a Joke

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, September 13, 2006

I think all these praises for Stamps.com must be by employee's of the company. Regardless of their terms and conditions, they do not answer the phone for 30+ minutes. When I finally got through, they put me on hold again for another 30+ minutes to speak to a supervisor because I guess only a supervisor can cancel an accountunfortunately then I had to go because I don't have hours to wait on hold. What a Joke!

To the comment about TV service, my TV service provider answers the phone when I call! This place may or may-not offer a real service that provides value to someone, but its their utter lack of customer service not their product that has people upset with them.

Stamps.com

AUTHOR: Meghan - (U.S.A.)

I have been an advid user of stamps.com for many years. I have refered many of my friends and co-wokers to this service they all enjoy stamp.com immensely. I would like to say to all of you who believe stamps.com is fraud you are incorrect what you need to understand is that you are paying for a convenience not a membership.

As the previous person above stated anytime you sign up for a free trial and you have to put in your credit card (a red light should come up in your head thinking hey maybe this is not free) That should be a clue to read the TERMS AND CONDITIONS. You should be doing that anyway before you sign up for ANYTHING. The free trial is in fact free you have 4 weeks to close the account which is more that enough time to figure out you don't want it you are only billed once you exceed your trial period ending date.

At some point you will have to take responsibility for the fact that you sign up for the account and you did not take the necessary steps to close the account as directed. How can you call it fraud when you did not read and understand what stamps.com is.

My final note is this stamps.com displays there TERMS and CONDITIONS in plain sight there is no fine print it easy to read and understand.

i contacted them right after i got my "free kit". they didn't and they still don't want to cancel it. they even told me that they were cancelling the fees. oh, you probablly work for them. that's why you know so much about them. you see, i did call and cancel way before the 30 days were up. they won't do it. they think they own you for life once you sign up for that "free trial".

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Prevention of "Rip-Off"

AUTHOR: Tony - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 04, 2006

Stamps.com does not charge your CC unless you go beyond your trial period. your trial period starts. the day you sign up. it does not matter if you download the software, it does not matter if you never install the software. Un-installing the software does not close the account, in fact there is a pop up message explaining this that you must agree to when un-installing. My suggestion to anyone who signs up for anything via the internet and gives their credit card info, READ THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS. Also a note on non-usage. how many of you have Cable or satillite TV? now, you get charged every month no matter how much you watch right? the same thing applies. the greater majority of these "rip-offs" could be avoided by simple reading the T&Cs.
