Star Van Lines Moving Rip Off multiply estimate by 3 after truck is packed they charge you more fraudulent ripoff business Sunrise Florida

Lisa at United Movers (aka Star Van Lines) quoted me a price of $1088 to move my things from Houston, TX to Oakland, CA. She said I would have 10 free large boxes included. I asked her if that was enough based on what i told her i had, she said yes. I also had her bump the cubic feet quote up from 235 cubic ft, to 291 cu ft, just to be sure that I wasn't charged for additional space.

I got confirmation that my move would be picked up on 7/28/02 at 9-11am. The movers still had not arrived by 12, so I called. They told me the movers would call. By 3pm, they still had not called. I called and they said they had a few moves to do before they could pick mine up. At 10 pm they called and were still not done. At 3 am they called and said they were outside. I told them to come back at 7 am to do the pack and move.

When the packer came in, they said there would be extra cost for materials, looked at the quote and told me they would tell me if I were exceeding the estimate for cubic footage. I kept asking, " how is the space looking?" THey replied, fine.

Once they were done, the cubic footage ended up to be approximately 800 cu ft (according to the mover), but he was doing me a favor by only charging me for 550 cu ft. 2x the quote and $966.07 extra. The packing materials were another additional $906, and the long carry was an additional $150 (this long carry was never discussed). They only gave me 4 free small boxes...not 10 free large boxes (7 lg boxes were also used)My total end price was $3107.5. 3x the quote!

I called 5 days later to find out where the move was, they didn't know. They thought in Dallas. I called Lisa on Monday, she said she would get the price down. I called their 'home office' numerous times, and they would not put me in touch with anyone that would help. And I have not received one call back since they took my belongings. The "owner" Joe Banida was supposed to call me about a $ adjustent..I have put several other calls out with no response!

14 Days later the move still has not arrived. No one has called me back, and I don't know if I will ever see my valuables again!
