Starving Student Movers ripoff rude liars undependable uncaring untrustworthy Los Angeles California

Lets start from the beginning. I initally called Starving Student movers to get a quote for a move from Bryan, TX to Richmond, Virginia. I was given a great quote and was assured the company was solid and responsible.

I was told I would have to pay a deposit of $348.00 and could pay the rest upon delivery. I told my rep. no problem. Since I didn't have a credit card the rep. told me I could either mail in the deposit or I could go to the local Richmond, VA office and pay it their.

This is where my troubles began. I went down to the office in Richmond, and the area was really bad. There were seriously people selling drugs in front of the office. I have to park a block a way and walk to the office. I had attempted to call the office before going but got no answer even though my rep. assured me there was someone there.

When I arrive at the office there is no one there the office is locked and it is only 2:00pm. I walk back to my car clutching my purse to my chest for fear of being mugged.

At this time the drug dealers are watching me closely. I get back in my car and call my rep to report what was going on. I also informed her that the trucks at this office weren't in very good shape and that kind of concerned me and she assured me the truck that would be bringing my belongings accross country would be in much better shape.

I ended up mailing her a money order for the deposit. She contacted me later to let me know they had recieved it and everything was good to go.

Then 2 weeks later I get a call from a very rude person who later I found out he was one of the vice presidents. He called to inform me that they would not be moving my belongings because they had just had a meeting and were no longer going to be doing long distance moves. Again, he was very rude and uncaring about the predictament they had just put me in.

He hung up on me while I was attempting to question him about this. I then called the rep I had been dealing with and asked her about it and told her about the was I was treated. I asked her why did she schedule the move if there was a hint of the possiblity they were going to stop doing long distance moves. And she said she couldn't.

I asked about my money and she assured me the check would be mailed to me the next day. I did not recieve the check for 3 weeks and then it got sent to the wrong adress even after I had called and gave them the address to send the check to. They sent the check to my mothers house in Texas who then had to overnight the check to me in Virginia.

Before all this happened I had referred my aunt to them. But quickly called and told her to cancel that they could not be trusted and she did.

I strongly recommend you not using this company. And if you already have and had a bad experiance voice your frustrations and let others know so they don't get duped like we did.
