I had received a notice that I was no longer eligible for car insurance since I had let my driver license expire.  My current driver license does not expire untill 11/2013.  I called my agent and gave him the correct information.

Next I receive a notice that insurance payment is increased by $15.00, because I no longer qualify for the good driver discount.  I have called my agent about this problem.  I have been calling him for one week and receive no call back and no answer to my question.

I have tried to call and also use the internet to find an answer.  No luck.

I know that is is not a lot of money but if there is no logical reason for this increase there should not be an increase.

California Good Driver Discount

It is not acceptable for your insurance office to not answer your question. However, the office staff are licensed and are probably more qualified to know what is going on than the Agent. Don't refuse to talk to the staff because all the Agent does is own the business and decides to come in whenever he wants.

When you provided State Farm with your new license number, they "hit" it. Meaning they took a look at your DMV record. You qualify for California Good Driver discount if you have had only one violation, or one at fault accident within the past three years.

Meaning, your driving record is showing at least two of these things within the past three years. (Two accidents, two violations, or one accident and one violation). If this information is incorrect than you need to talk to the DMV or the court to clear it up. SF has no control over your record.

First of all this was an error their system made and 15 bucks adds up to almost 200 bucks a year. So, dont say thats silly. Here are two things you can try and fix this. 1. Go to your agents office and dont leave until you see PROOF that the error has been corrected. Or 2. Call the claims office and tell them to connect you to the customer service. (I searched for a customer service line and they dont have one**see for further comment) They will either forward you to someone that can help or tell you that you have to talk to the agent. This is the number I found 800-782-8332

If you ended up paying the extra 15 bucks make them credit that

**I previously worked in the insurance industry for many years and I dont like the fact that this large of a company doesnt have a non-claims number. Any of the large companies I worked for had this. There are many reasons why this should be an option and I just dont like that. Also, have you checked to make sure you are getting the cheapest rate? I have found that in
most cases State Farm and Allstate had some of the highest premiums. Im not saying go to the shady guy down the street that advertises that they can insure anyone, so your research on the company. But there are many reputable companies
that dont have the premiums these two do. And they may be your best option but make sure.

Sorry this was so long but as someone that worked in the business I hate to see someone raked over the coals (one of the reasons I am in a completely different industry)
