I have State Farm car Insurance , it's a six month car insurance policy. I recently leased a new suv, this vehicle has excellent cash ratings front, side, rollover etc. I have had no traffic tickets,no accidents since started driving many, years ago. I live in a rural area, work close to home.I reported this new vehicle to my agent, at the time of lease as required by law in NewJersey. At this time I had only 2 months to go on my current 6 month policy.

Right after I reported this new vehicle I got a policy change letter and bill, from State Farm charging me for this new vehicle ALL the way back to the policy renewal 4 months back. I didn't even own, drive this suv for all the months I was charged for. This is being a "Good Neighbor".....as they claim....I don't think so not at all.

This is a ripoff by State Farm. I don't know if they do this in other states but it should be illegal,.....you are being charged for something you don't even oun yet.

Confusion..

This is not normal business practice at all. Are you sure you didn't misunderstand? State Farm cannot bill you for four months of having the car if you didn't own it. I think you must have misread your dec page.

And?

And you called State Farm and they said what? Normally they go back to your purchase date. Have you provided them with a copy of your purchase agreement, because if not, they don't have anything to go on.

What was State Farm's response to all of this?

That's strange...

The ins. company I use would just close the old policy and write me a new one. Obviously, some insurance companies are more progressive than others. Thanks for the head's up about State Farm.

Can't say as I've ever happened to me

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

I've had State Farm insurance for quite a while and have gotten new cars transferred over with no problems as far a coverage dates or anything else for that matter.

When you called the agent what did he say??? I am sure you will find out someone pressed a wrong key somewhere and that is what this is all about.

If you called your agent and he said that he would not fix it then change agents or coverage.
