It started yesterday with a message on our answering machine from someone saying they were from Sterling bank's fraud dept. saying there was fraudulent activity on our account and to call their fraud dept. at an 866 number. I called the 866 number. It said to enter your CREDIT CARD number and punch the number 1. Only problem IS we don't have ANY accounts or cards with Sterling bank so I wasn't dumb enough to enter anything. Then today I get a text on my mobile phone requesting the same thing asking to call 210.858.6903, which is a local number and enter my credit card number, AGAIN. I had called Sterling bank this morning and they told me it's a scam that they had received a number of phone calls about, this morning. The bank is not a part of the scam but if this post can help someone to avoid being taken, that's what it's for.

I see another person reported on another post with the same scam. Here are the two 866 numbers. 1.866.530.9627 that the person left as a callback number and 1.866.660.7377 was left on our caller ID.
