Warning: Do not purchase a vehicle from Suntrup Hyundai in South County, St. Louis, Missouri. They sold my husband and I a car that was full of hail damaged and they did not disclose it to us before the purchase nor did it show up on the car fax. Their comment to this situation was they do not have to disclose hail damage to customers. The car was silver in color and we purchased it in the early evening. We did not see any hail damage. When we took the car home and waxed it, we noticed the car was loaded with hail damage but was not easily viewable unless it was looked at on an angle.
Like their advertisement states, we relied solely on the dealership to lead us in an ethical and professional manner in the purchase of our new vehicle. They did not disclose the hail damage to us nor did this damage show up on the car fax. The dealership told us they were not required to disclose hail damage to anyone. When we tried to get this situation rectified by going to the dealership to discuss, we were treated very rudely and asked to leave. This type of treatment left us in total shock. How can a dealership sell hail damaged vehicles, not disclose it and then treat the customer like criminals when they attempt to rectify the situation?
While trying to rectify this siutaiton, my husband and I never lost our cool, and never acted rudely to a sales person or management at Suntrup Hyundai. But yet we were treated incredibly rude. When we requested to talk to the general manager or Mr. Suntrup, we were told, there was no general manager and talking to Mr. Suntrup will never happen. Later in this scenario, the facts slipped out of one salespersons mouth that Suntrup Hyundai had purchased a truckload of hail damaged cars - this proved to my husband and I that the sales people were aware of the hail damage before selling this car to us. Is this the type of customer satisfaction that Suntrup Hyundai advertises? After a long wait, we finally got to speak to someone. While speaking with this person several other sales people were brought into our room one by one. Each person was more rude than the other no one showed any empathy. In short they told us that they did not have to disclose the hail damage to us and now it was our problem.
When I said the words we can do this the easy way or we can do this the hard way one gentleman got up from the desk and yelled directly at me stating I was threatening him and we were to be removed from the dealership! We just sat there in total shock. How can a dealership withhold information from customers and then treat them like criminals when they return to the dealership in an attempt to rectify the problem? We were offered $500 to leave the dealership and never return! We finally signed a piece of paper stating Suntrup Hyundai would fix the hail damage to the car within 30 days. We thought there is only one problem with thatthe car fax would show the vehicle had hail damage. We were hesitant to sign this addendum stating they OWE us to fix the hail damage because it would show up on the car fax. When bringing up this fact to the salesman, his reply wasthe dealership will fix the damage and not report it to the car fax company! How can a car dealership operate their business in this manner? Do not purchase cars from Suntrup Hyundai this could be you.
