on 12/4/04 I took my 10yr old to supercuts/sicklerville nj. she has had her hair cut there on 2 previous occasions. the charge has always been $23.00 for wash, cut blow dry. the individual who cut my daugher hair this pm charge me 27.00 for these services. i explained that we have had these services provided there in the past and that we were always charged the same amount so there would have been no reason for me to ask ahead of time what the cost was going to be. She told me that the other girls underchaged me. I told her that this was a ridculous price to have an inch and 1/2 cut from a 10 years old hair but she refused to adjust the price for me.

There is ALWAYS a reason why you should ask ahead of time

There is ALWAYS a reason why you should ask ahead of time. Because, just like everything else, prices go up! Just because you paid such-and-such for a haircut for the past two years does not mean that you're guaranteed to pay that much for the rest of your life. Salons have price lists in the front lobby area to keep customers informed of the current going rates. It is YOUR responsibility to look at the price list OR ask about the price BEFORE sitting in the stylist's chair. Your failure to ask about the price before accepting service does NOT constitute a rip off, nor are you owed any compensation.

Overcharged? Just ask!

The reason is that at Supercuts everything is ALA' Carte...not sure if i spelled that correctly. Here is an example of the price list in california..maybe it will help you.

Haircut: $13.50
Shampoo: $3.00
Blowdry: $5,$9,$13 or more for specialized services like updo's, flat iron, curling iron, etc.
Request a stylist: $2.00
Deep conditioning:$10.00

So if you looked at the price sheet hanging inside of every store you would notice that blow dry prices change, depending on the length of the hair, how long it took the stylist to do it and we can all charge the price that we see fit when we blowdry someone's hair, the best thing you can do is ask before they blowdry it. The haircut price will never change and the shampoo price will never change unless posted on the price list hanging up, but the blowdry is up to the stylist and what she feels is the best price for the length of the hair, and the time it will take.

At my salon that I work for now, I worked for Supercuts for 8 years, I charge $32.00 for a hair cut, and just a blowdry and wash...that does not include a flat iron or curling iron..so you are still recieving a great deal at Supercuts and they really are a great company. So do not feel like you got ripped off...maybe your daughters hair got longer or maybe the stylist really did feel that the other stylists under charged you, and she wasn't going to do it for that price.
