while at swipeauction.com i was asked if i wanted to try a free auction. when i found out i had to use my account number i was worried, but it said free. immediately 159$ was taken from my account. i was told i would have to print a refund form, sign it, and mail it, then contact them in 2 weeks. 4 weeks later they finally said i was approved for a refund and it would arrive in 6-10 days. now, 16 days after that, they are saying the company is closing down and they can't issue refunds, nor can you use the purchased bids. and i also was told i couldn't speak to a supervisor. so i have been totally ripped off!

..to be worried that they asked for your account number. As if something is truly "free", why would they need your account information? Bet you don't fall for this again.

I see so many reports about this so you are not the only one who fell for it. I am surprised however that anyone is surprised when they find out that the REASON the website required submitting account information was to authorize them to charge the account.

I mean regardless of the implication it is free..I would not suggest anyone to submit account information out online until AFTER you investigate who you are submitting the info to. If you were in a store and someone told you something was free but then asked for a credit card..would you give it to them?

I posted on this very website maybe a month ago that this website would be closing down soon. You can only get away with this for so long. They will probably do it again under another name if they haven't started already.

Sorry for the loss, I know 159.00 is a lot of money to many these days. It could have been more though. The site is still up..and now seems they raised the price..
