I attended Techskills with the hopes of getting a lot out of my experience. Here are a few issues im really upset about as a student:

My loan: I ended up with a Variable rate loan (that the councelor had lied about and I cannot find anyone to refinance it for the life of me!) Do not EVER use Sallie Mae they are horrible. The "lowest available rate they had" turned into 10%.... for a student loan!! And definately do not use their own financing it is a horrific interest rate! They will not contact me now even for a simple inquiry about where to get this loan re-financed....

Their programs: They have horrible programs. They claim they cater to the full time employee... their work load is immense. Unless you are full time DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL. They think you can get certified in a few weeks on a lot of their certifications. 3-4 weeks to be exact, trust me not easy especially with a job. Your brain can only contain so much until you go into information overload, especially if you buy one of their "good deals" that includes a "membership" where you can get as many certs as possible in x months for an ungodly amount of money! This place is a boot camp. You are FAR better off buying a book and doing it on your own. You want to know what your money goes for? A test pass gaurantee that allows you 3 fails IF you pass all of their prerequisits to qualify for their gaurantee (Thats 3 fails for your entire membership no more, no less) and they only pay for 3 certifications for 7 grand! They can be steep requirements for difficult certifications. You basically work on your own. They have very few staff to help. Their weekend hours are very limited. What about the working student?
They also like to change out your programs on you when your trying to complete a certification. Their course work is insane. I had them change their materials and require me to start over mid course about 2 times. (Think about taking a class getting half way through and then they decide, oh we need to change the program and you have to agree with it)

Resources: They have limited resources in respect to computer systems and lab systems so you sometimes have to wait in line to do your homework. You could buy a cheap computer for home for the price you pay here for a lab computer and google.com can be more reliable a source for help then that of their mentors! To make it short: You don't get what you pay for. You buy a babysitter that takes a long time to get a-hold of to ask questions to and a computer lab that you have to constantly wait to be able to use.

There are a few mentors that are great, but a rare few. All I am asking if you read this is avoid the school at all costs unless you are a full time employee or have tons of time on your hands and can learn and retain a lot of info! The people that went to the same school had differing views. The ones that had a job and went to school hated it. The ones that went to school and had no job were able to do ok. I made this mistake so you don't have to. Trust me. I could have refered a lot of people to them for students. Instead they get this post. I am a hard working honest student, please do not fall into this trap.
