My wife received a call a few weeks ago from Telecom USA stating they were biling us for some collect calls that were received from our phone number. She explained they were not received at our location because we were not home at that date and time (work/school). They said they would snd the bill and they expected us to pay it. The bill came today and I know for a fact we did not receive these calls. In fact half the numbers are disconnected and are not in service as of today.

This is a scam if I have ever seen one. I have done some research and it seems many people have been hit with this very same thing. I tried to call Telecome USA but they wanted me to leave my number and some other information and they would return my call. The only information they give is a PO box, and a huge bill due of $107 for 39 minutes of calls that were "received" over 2 days.

How do I proceed from here? I am assuming I need to send a letter to them and the FCC with a complaint but how can make this go away without paying for somthing I did not consume?

I was able to contact Telecom USA's billing department today. I spoke with a represenative and explained my situation with the bill they sent me. I told them I feel it is a scam I did not receive these calls and am not prepared to pay this "bill". She did not have much information but did tell me she would put the bill in dispute. I asked her what this means for me and what I should expect. She explained that within six to eight weeks I would either receive a letter from Telecome USA refusing the dispute or I would receive nothing and it the issue would be resolved.

I feel I need to take this one step further and will be mailing them a formal letter of dispute signed and dated and will also send a letter to the Federal Communications Commission to complain about this abvious scam Telecom USA is pulling on us consumers. At least from the small amount of research I did on the internet it seems this is common practice for Telecom USA as many others have had the same exact thing happen to them.

I am very weary that this will not simply go away and I will end up having to take further actions. I will update this at a later date so others having the same issues will now how it went down for me and how to resolve it.
