Teri Buhl - Is She a Smashmouth or Trashmouth Journalist ?

Teri Buhl is a self-described "professional" journalist. What does that mean? Well, I guess it means she gets paid for writing. Sometimes. So I guess that narrow definition makes her a "professional" journalist. Funny, though, that she has to use that word on her website, "professional" to describe herself. I guess she's dealing with a little insecurity there, eh? I mean why do you think you need to describe yourself as a "professional" unless you a little anxious over it yourself? Just speculation.

Anyway, the main thing is this: Teri Buhl seems to make her living as a "smashmouth" (her word, not mine) journalist by trashing other people and their reputations. So, a little dose of that right back atchya, Teri ...

I'm just going to pose some questions here:

1) Why is it ok for Teri to write about the financial misdeeds of others and rake them over the coals when she herself has been charged with a felony for writing bad checks in excess of $1,000.00, has had several tax liens filed against her, and was evicted from her home?
Is it just me or does anyone else see a double standard at work here?

2) Is it really journalism to publish the very personal diary of the teenage girl of the man you were dating, which was full of details of underage drinking and sex at a party, on FACEBOOK?
Invasion of privacy, perhaps? (BTW, she was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a one-year probation for that.)

3) Is it really "professional" to solicit donations from visitors to your website?
I know people are trying to find ways to make money online these days, but really?
