The Salter School - Salter College, Salter fraud, accredidation, education, teachers not educated, schooling, fraudulent financial aide Fall River Massachusetts

As a current student of The Salter School in their health claims division, i wish someone would have warned me about their practices before i signed up for my school loans with the school.

First, the school claims they are "accredited" and they make a point to show you where it says accredited on each piece of paper. In retrospect, that should have been a red flag. By "accredited," they are signed up with an independent schools organization, which is the same organization that allows the "schools" within strip malls to stay in practice. The Salter School is a glorified strip mall "school".

Second of all, the teachers here at the school are as effective as you buying a "self help" cd and thinking you're automatically going to be cured of whatever it is your willing to change. I have been here for 5 "mods" now, and all of 1 teacher actually knew what they were talking about because their background was actually in the field of which we were studying. If you were to ask any of our other teachers ANYTHING that wasn't in the text book they'd beat around the bush until you just gave up on your question and were so much more confused that you went back to asking what you were originally asking. Half the time, the answer was... "well in this case it would be this." If you were in "english" they'd tell you.. " i dont know why it's just a rule of grammar". Nothing was ever actually spelled out for you. We had one professor within our first mod who during the first day of class actually said to us, "i've never taught this before so i dont know what exactly were going to do but we'll make the most of it". I kid you not, our law and ethics professor.. not exactly a class you want to bull s**t your way through.

Thirdly, The equipment we use during class isn't updated. The keyboarding medical book isn't readable, even our teacher, who we had at the time, who was leaving that mod told us the book was a joke. The software we have been using is outdated... 2003 to be exact. The books we use aren't up to date with the new information. The curriculm itself is extremely outdated. There is no talk of pharmacology, no real billing information other that how to use the book... no actual tips, no talk of how each insurance company is different.. we had to learn that due to one of the students interviewing a receptionist on how she does her billing while our fellow student was sitting in teh waiting room. When brought up to the professor, she claimed everything is done similarly which is definately not the case. Transcription itself, is a thing of the past. There's no need for us to know any of it. There's no formal training for any aspect of health claims.

Further-more, half the books that are covered in your "tuition costs" aren't actually used EVER. If you have a problem and tell Carole, who is the "program director" she tells you to take it or leave it. But believe me, even if you leave... you're still paying the 12,000 it costs to finish the program.. so what does she care???? Trust me, she makes it very well known as well.

The actual course from teh day you enter the mod's to the day you leave. At least 20 minutes - an hour is taken up by the teachers just bull s**t talking to one another about how their weekends were spent, to how the weather is, and the students are referred to as "them" by the plastic fake as all get out Joyce. She'll come in and make comments about how "THEY look tired" as if you're hard of hearing. But let me tell you, she'll find out about where everyones parked, how everyones weekend was, and anything else she cares to know about. Don't worry... that's just precious class time they're wasting and oh ya, your money. Once again, this was brought to Carole's attention and her response???? "Take it or leave it". Half the hands on courses are self taught. During our transcription class, not a word was said about how to format things... actually the teacher barely speaks. If you get something wrong, the response 9 out of 10 times is nope this is the right answer i dont know how you got that".

Lastly, not only do you end up paying for the tuition, the books you'll never use, but parking here is absolutly awful. If class starts at 830 you better be there by 7 because there is none in the parking lot. There's no reduced rate for the students at the parking lot... and the majority of the spots around the school are residential or metered. Now if you're in class for 6 hours straight... meter's are a waste of time. Plan on at least one ticket every week.. the area is the police departments money ground as far as tickets go.

Once completed with the course, you're not ready to take the certification exam by any means and don't worry... Carole makes it known that you wont be. She actually encourages you not to. Again, your best bet??? A do it  yourself at home learning guide. It's what you'll be doing anyway.
