Watch out for The Titan Group's ads and job postings that are frequently posted on job search web sites, such as monster.com, careerbuilder.com, and the like. Their ads are posted almost daily (or at least once every 2-3 days) and are very deceptive. They basically promise a glamorous career in sports marketing and promotions with unlimited earning potential and a fast track to management without any experience required.

It sounds too good to be true and unfortunately, it is! The problem is that their ads never specify how compensation is paid (salary, wage, or commission) or the exact nature and description of this job. This would make many people suspicious of these ads placed by The Titan Group.

Their employment ads have been so problematic that they have come to the attention by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) with them giving The Titan Group an unsatisfactory record for this. The BBB of Eastern Missouri & Southern Illinois states on their web site (Source: (((ROR REDACTED)))
):

"Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the BBB due to its failure to substantiate or modify advertising claims."

Furthermore, the BBB also states (Source: (((ROR REDACTED)))
):

"Advertising Review

The Better Business Bureau has challenged some advertised claims with this company concerning an advertised job offer that failed to state whether earnings were for a wage or salary. The BBB brought to the firm's attention that all employment ads must be for a position with a wage or salary unless otherwise stated. If pay is wage or salary, the ad need not state. If pay is some other method, such as commission, it must be explained. The firm has failed to respond to the BBB's requests to modify or substantiate the ad."

The bottom line is this: watch out for their employment ads on monster.com, careerbuilder.com, and other like web sites. Do not fall for their unsubstantiated claims in their ads and their false promises contained in these ads.

Basically, this "job" is doing door-to-door sales on straight commission (where you may or may not make any money) making the company president, Mark Kernan rich, of course, at your expense. Do not waste your time applying online in response to these Titan Group ads, let alone go to their interviews.

Unfortunately, I made this mistake of interviewing with them (which was a complete waste of my time) and am therefore writing this report to save others from wasting time interviewing for this "job". Based on my unfortunate experience, my advice to job seekers is to watch out for these ads and stay away from The Titan Group and Mark Kernan!

BBB seems to agree with this report

AUTHOR: Zach - (U.S.A.)

I interviewed with this company, but luckily did some research beforehand. It seems like Titan Group was actually part of a larger company (DS-Max) whose unethical practices have already been documented by RipOff Report (http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/024/ripoff0024979.htm)

The BB revoked Titan Group INC's accreditation (http://www.bizjournals.com/stlouis/stories/2008/11/03/daily64.html). Unfortunately, these schemes have a way of reemerging under some other name... These people were dishonest with me during my interview and offer nothing of value to employees or consumers. I'm disturbed by the "cult-like" rhetoric coming from employees in support of these pyramid schemes, but clearly the reports of ex-employees who were exploited is overwhelming.

Still using what I learned

AUTHOR: Still Using What I Learned - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 02, 2008

Well after reading all the quote "information" on the Titan Group I am floored. I worked with the Titan Group for over 8 months. It literally was the hardest training program that I have ever been a part of and I played basketball and softball in college. It's amazing the way people who don't even know how the company runs can evaluate and attempt to ruin the potential opportunity for someone else. I learned more in 8 months than I learned in all my time in college and prior business experience. That is what the college grads are missing, hands on experience.

Don't let a little fear of the unknown, or others "one day" experience make or break an education that you can use the rest of your life, like myself. Skills are taught best with experience because there are memories to relate those skills with. I did leave the company a month ago to work with my boyfriend full time helping him establish his own business but I can say that I will take what I learned from Titan; people skills, work ethic, being goal oriented and accountability, and use it the rest of my life. Thank you Titan for the invaluable experience.
