I noticed that Ticket Liquidators.com is selling $65 Kenny Loggins tickets for $277 on their website to a show that isn't even sold out. Anyone can purchase tickets for this show at face value themselves by phone or online from Tickets.com and save $212.00 per ticket. That's an exorbitant $212.00 profit that Ticket Liquidators and other scalping websites are making off of you the consumer.

This is posted on Ticketliquidators website:

"Lower Prices.
Some companies will raise prices as much as they can just to keep profit margins high. Here at TicketLiquidator, however, we want to keep our customers happy by charging a fair price that is the lowest in our industry.

We keep our costs as low as possible, using efficient technologies and our innovative business model to grow our business without increasing the cost to the consumer. Sound too fair and ethical to be true? We encourage you to shop around and try to find a better price... we're confident there's not one out there."

This kind of scalping should be illegal, but it's not. Consumers beware!
Do your homework, buy direct and save your hard earned money!

Unjust Criticism: TicketLiquidator Does Not Set Ticket Prices

AUTHOR: Colin - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, July 16, 2009

The person who is complaining about TicketLiquidator is angry at the fact that tickets on our website at the time of her commentary were being sold for $277 when they were available elsewhere for $65. I can understand this anger, but the fury of the customer (if, indeed, she ever was a customer of ours) is misplaced and here's why

To begin with, I have to explain what TicketLiquidator is and the nature of our business model. Most importantly, TicketLiquidator does not own the tickets that are posted on our website. Those tickets are actually possessed by a wide number of different people and licensed ticket sellers across the country. These people then post the tickets they have for sale on our website for the public to view and (if they're so inclined) to purchase. In short, TicketLiquidator and other secondary market websites are like an Ebay for tickets. As such, we do not price the tickets on our website nor do we posses them or ship them out. In most cases, we don't even charge your credit card when you purchase through us. All that is handled by the individual seller, who lists and actually has the tickets.

That being said, TicketLiquidator is openly known and advertised as being a SECONDARY ticket market website. Importantly, this is to distinguish us from the PRIMARY ticket market where tickets are first sold to the public via TicketMaster, actual venues, etc. In contrast, the secondary ticket market is made up of people and groups who buy tickets from the primary market and then resell them at different prices. Oftentimes, these sellers choose to resell the tickets they bought above (or sometimes even below) their face value. Generally speaking, they price their tickets at whatever they think the public is willing to pay. Naturally, this means that ticket prices on the secondary ticket market vary considerably from seller to seller.

With that said, let me now say something else about the commentary left by Babs above -- I agree. I agree insofar as I would never want to pay $277 for Kenny Loggins tickets when I could pay $65 instead. The particular ticket seller in this case was making quite a profit-margin leap indeed. However, we at TicketLiquidator do not want to "scam" anybody. As a result, we make it prominently known in our FAQ and "Terms and Conditions" that our ticket prices may be above face value. In fact, we openly encourage all customers to be intelligent consumers and to shop around for tickets actively before making a purchase decision. Specifically, due to the fact that primary market prices are usually cheaper, I recommend that you always, always, ALWAYS check Ticketmaster or the venue of your event for tickets first. Then, only then, if you can't get the seats you want, should you go to a secondary ticket website like TicketLiquidator and pay the possible mark-up fee. Indeed, among these secondary market ticket websites, TicketLiquidator generally boasts the cheapest prices and the most expansive service.

On that note, we come to the mention made by Babs concerning the quote on our website about having the "lowest prices." Specifically, that quote is in reference to our competitors in the secondary ticket market. It is not in reference to Ticketmaster or the other primary ticket-selling site mentioned by Babs (Tickets.com). These organizations are not out "competitors" in most respects due to the fact our sellers often buy tickets from them to begin with. Our "competitors" are other ticket resale websites scattered throughout the internet. Compared to them, I'm happy to say that our prices are almost always the cheapest. Check for yourself and you're bound to notice the price differential in your cross-comparison. Indeed, our low-priced tickets are why TicketLiquidator has the significant (and growing) customer base that we do.

All in all, therefore, while I understand the concern expressed by Babs, I must say it is misdirected. TicketLiquidator does not price the tickets on our website and our massive ticket inventory means that we don't have the time, money, or resources to know the price of each ticket sold through us on other websites. As a result, the presence of $277 Kenny Loggins on TicketLiquidator was not a concerted plot to cheat the consumer of $212. The situation simply involved a ticket seller exercising his legal right to price his own property however he so chose. Similarly, Babs and every other consumer have a perfect right to research his or her ticket purchase and to refuse to buy the $277 tickets as a result. That's how the market works and, give or take a hiccup, it generally serves the public well.

Due to that same market, I bet those 2008 $277 Kenny Loggins tickets probably remained unbought for a long time. Chances are, cheaper tickets were bought up on both the primary and secondary market. But then, one day before the show, when Ticketmaster and Tickets.com were all sold out of Kenny Loggings, I wouldn't be surprised if some consumer was grateful to get her last-minute hands on those $277 tickets so that she could treat herself to an evening with her idol an evening that the primary market alone would have denied her.
