We ordered my daughter's gown for prom with sufficient time for delivery according to the manufacture and shipping guidelines on tidebuy's website.  To avoid any potential delay and because it is prom season I decided to pay an additional fee for expedited shipping cost. It is the week after prom and the dress still has not arrived.

Two days before my daughter's senior prom we were scrambling to alter a dress that we borrowed from her boyfriend's sister.  One of the reasons we decided to buy online was that we could have it custom made and since she wears a very small size we were unable to find anything that fit her comfortably in our local stores.

I began emailing tidebuy the week before prom and their customer service responses would have been hysterically comical had I not been so frustrated and worried for my daughter's gown.  To quote:  "Please accept our sincere apology for not being able to ship out your order in time. But here you see, the nice dress was made for you and it fits very well. Also, it is not easy to get such a dress elsewhere. Would you please take the dress?

What's more, to apologize for the delay of your dresses, we can at most give you $10iscount which will be sent to your paypal account directly later on if you would take the dress. You see, the dress is really lovely, and it took us a lot of time and energy to make it besides the material, the labor and the shipping cost. So would you please take it?" I was then offered discounts on future purchases and also to be moved to the "top priority list."

My credit card company was contacted the day before prom and the charge is being disputed.  I am considering filing charges with my state's attorney general.  While I'm confident that my credit card company will satisfy my request for a chargeback, my primary concern now is to prevent other people from being victimized by this ridiculous company.

Ordering from China

AUTHOR: Flynrider - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, May 03, 2012

I think you'll find that when (if) the dress finally arrives, it will not be what you expected.    When ordering apparel from Chinese websites, you can routinely expect to wait months for shipping and be disappointed in the quality.   They're in China and they already have your money.  Not much you can do to them and they know it.

In the future, your best bet would be to stick to buying from retailers that are at least located in your country.  Once you go International, your options for recourse if something goes wrong are very limited (and that goes double for China).

Delivery Time

AUTHOR: promdisaster - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, May 03, 2012

Ashley, thank you for your response.

I carefully considered the time needed for production and delivery of my daughter's dress before deciding to order.  We were running short on options.  I placed the order and received confirmation of the order on March 27, the prom date was April 28.

Taking into account the maximum length of time that the dress could arrive I realized that we were close to our deadline and that is why I opted to pay extra for expedited shipping, which according to tidebuy's own schedule should have allowed the dress to arrive by April 22nd at the very latest, April 9th at the very earliest.  I know that is not a healthy cushion time, but as I said we were running out of options quickly and this seemed the most viable choice.

Additionally, the amount charged to my credit card was actually more than the cost of the dress and the expedited shipping by approximately $25.00, but no explanation for the additional charge was offered.

Now, one full week after we should have received the dress, allowing for the maximum amount of time for delivery, it still has not arrived.

How long in advance?

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, May 01, 2012

It doesnt mention in your complaint how far in advance you ordered the dress. Since that site makes the dresses to order there is a tailoring time also, did you factor that in? many say 12-22 days for tailoring and then 2-8 days for shipping. It could take up to 30 days to recieve your dress. Was this factored in to your order?
