We were contacted by Mindy Jonson with TimeShares By Owner regarding a timeshare unit in Cancun.  We initially told her we were not interested as we had been scammed by Timeshares Only for $600 and would not pay any more money to advertise the sale of our timeshare. She assued my husband and me that we would not pay any money and that we should always avoid any company wanting money up front to sell our timeshare.  

Mindy called several times that evening and talked at length each time, becoming very personable.  She told me how easy it would be to rent our unit because of the upcoming PGA Tournament in February - this was the end of October 2011 and we would definitely have customers calling in November. 

She was given our Timeshare ID number to 'verify' certain information, and very regrettably told me that we had not signed up with their company to advertise when we bought our timeshare - and she thought we had.  However, we could pay around $3000!!!  Well, she talked to her superior and got it down to $1217 for us.  Now with this we could rent our condo every year. She had three that she made money from annually.  We paid, and I talked to her over the next 2 week period, with her assurance that we would hear from someone soon. That was the last we heard from Mindy Jonson - we could not get in touch with her after that. 

Well, shame on us for falling for another scam!

Shame on people like Mindy Jonson who thrive on taking advantage of people who are too trusting!
