I found a 64GB iPad on Craigslist for $500. I sent an email trying to see if the deal was true. It was way too cheap.

I get this email:

Subject: the 64GB 3G iPad from Craigslist $500

From: "Arianna Davidson" NAMEREMOVED@hotmail.com

Hi, I am getting back to you regarding the 64GB 3G iPad from Craigslist

My name is Arianna and I am now in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.

I am selling the ipad for $500 USD. I have attached some pics with it to this email.

The ipad is still available and I hope you are still interested. The ipad was bought brand new from Apple a few weeks ago.

About the ipad I can say it's in perfect shape, as I used it only for a few weeks. Included in the $500 price is everything that came with the ipad.

The ipad is here with me.

I tried to be as thorough as I could with the presentation so you can have all the info if you decide to go ahead and buy it.

Please get back to me and let me know if you like the ipad if you're really interested in buying it.

I emailed back and got this email:

Hi, Well, I found a way to sell you the ipad that will cover the both of us. It's a worldwide delivery company called TNT. They have a service that will allow you to test the ipad before I receive my payment. Please go to the TNT website below and read their procedure so we can be on the same page: http://england-tnt.com/tnt.express.wolverhampton.depot.overseas.transactions/ I will pay the TNT shipping fee.

I looked at the webpage and found that the company appears to offer a secure way of getting the merchandise to me and only pays the seller after I give them the OK.

I dug a bit and found several problems.

1.) The photos show that the iPad was currently on the ATT 3G network. If this was inthe UK there was no way that was going to happen.

2.) You cannot call her workplace, the phone number just gives a fast busy signal.

3.) The company TNT International express has no phone number. You can only contact them via email. There is a very close company that is a legitimate delivery service in the UK with the name TNT. I bet they are often associated with this scam.

4.) There is another ripoff report with a very similar almost exact transaction that did take place and the person lost their money.

5.) I could not find any local craigslist ad that this person claimed to have used.

I am betting they are just putting ads on craigslist all over the country. Then you email the listing because thre is no phone number and you get this scam.
