Be aware there is no way to ever get service on a Tomtom GPS unless it is warranty. I bought a Tomtom for my car and it got broken after about 2 months. I contacted Tomtom who told me the warranty was only 30 days and proof of purchase date was required. I told them it wasn't under warranty, but I just wanted to have it fixed. They do no service these units, at all, unless it's warranty (they just send you another, they don't fix it). They also do not license anyone as a repair facility. They are completely disposable. If you break it, just throw it away unless it's within 30 days and you still have the reciept.
Garmin, on the other hand, has a great repair policy. They are very liberal and will do anything to help you out.

Not 30 days.

According to Tomtom's warranty page (posted on their website), the warranty for all of their units is 2 years, not 30 days. I actually went to look this up because the notion of a major GPS vendor only offering a 30 day warranty seemed absurd.
From their website :
1) TomTom Inc. (TomTom) warrants to the original purchaser (you) of the hardware with which this Limited Warranty is included (Hardware) that the Hardware will be free from defects in workmanship and materials under normal use (Defects) for a period of two (2) years from the date that the Hardware was first purchased by you (Warranty Period). During the Warranty Period the Hardware will be repaired or replaced at TomToms choice (Limited Warranty) without charge to you for either parts or labour. This Limited Warranty covers the replacement of the Hardware only. If the Hardware is repaired after the Warranty Period has expired, the Warranty Period for the repair will expire six (6) months after the date of repair.
